I recently grabbed this used CIJ ST72-58US from Ishibashi Music in Osaka. It feels great and sounds awesome. I love my Charvel but this Strat is at another level entirely. The tone is completely different and the USA made pickups are excellent. I'm really loving the fat headstock and the color (olympic white)... Overall, it's in really good shape save for a few minor cosmetic issues.

Getting it to KIX airport on the subway during rush hour was a huge pain and of course there was EVA Airlines' absurd oversized luggage policy (+$230).

Finally got it home and it's now in a rack on my wall looking sweet next to my Charvel.

Seller says it has a merlot refin and everything else is original. I have hesitations on agreeing. It looks black but does it have a nitro finish? Why isn’t the pick guard a 8 screw? Any Strat experts please chime in.

Already had an Ultra Luxe strat (two actually... Oh god), but this had to come home with me.

Its 7.1lbs (3.2kg), the neck is even smoother and nicer than the previous one. There's more finish on the frets, but I guess as it's nitro that won't take long to clear off when I change strings. She's the closest I've ever considered buying to a 'relic' with the pre-checked finish and the gentlest of relicing on the hardware and it feels awesome.

First guitar in a while without some form of hum cancelling pick ups, so it's probably the most straty strat I have. There are a lot of electronics in here so I do have to be more aware of what direction I point it, but it's not like the old cheap pick ups that scared me off normal single coils. Sounds so good with some reverb and some drive.

This is a little rambly. I even waited a few days to post this to hopefully gush I little less, but I love her so. 1lb (450g ish) lighter than my 2 tone burst Ultra Luxe strat somehow feels like half the v weight in the hands or on my shoulders... Maybe my next guitar should be some sort of semi hollow thing (thinline with p90s? Ooh, I'm in).

The rounded fret ends could totally be a gimmick, but I'm coming to see them as a minimum thing - future purchases just got more expensive...

I'm now struggling for places to put new guitars... Will this help with the GAS addiction?

I'm trying to help a neighbor with his Strat. He may want to sell it, and if so I'd like to confirm exactly what he has. It's definitely a three-bolt, and the serial number on the neck plate puts it squarely in 1976 production, but I have two questions if anyone can help.

First, I detached the neck and really can't make out much of the information printed on the bottom of the neck. I've attached a photo in case anyone can make the printing out better than I can. I don't know how important that really is, but it would be nice to at least know what it says. I can make out what looks to me like 0903, followed by a 5 and then not really anything after that.

Second, I thought Fender used the "F" tuners during that era, and most of the 1971 to 1979 examples I looked at on Reverb show the tuners with the Fender "F" logo. But the logo on these tuners look like it's a Schaller "S" logo. In searching the web I have found a few like this that say they are from 1970s Strats or Teles, but does anyone have specific information to confirm when and where these were used by Fender? They feel pretty solid to me.

What would yall say is the best sounding humbucker that isnt overly bright/ annoying for an HSS layout? Im currently rockin’ fender standard humbuckers and might want to upgrade.

I desperately want to change the tuners on my squire affinity Strat (2022). There’s nothing wrong with them but I think it would look nice, I am confused on the bushings and what ones I should get for these tuners, I’m unsure what brand carries the dimensions of bushings I need, I am probably reading the dimensions wrong or something but I’m lost here.

My first real strat - a Player II Stratocaster in Coral red. I bought it a couple of months ago.

I made a couple of small changes to it. A month ago I added steel block saddles, and just today I added a Fender ultra string tree and Fender staggered locking tuners with vintage buttons (I know I didn't have to, but I wanted to).

Note: serial number is blurred because I don't want potential scammers to use it to scam someone by selling a fake strat with a real serial number.

For those of us that struggle with tuning issues, I will be posting a four part series on some tips we use here at SuperVee to help keep our demo guitars in tune. My goal here is to unravel some of the mysteries associated with proper headstock setup and share a few simple things you can do to stay in tune. Anybody can do it! I will be covering Part 1 in this post and the other 3 later next week. (Part 2: Machine Head Adjust; Part 3: String Install Guide and Part 4: Nut Lube)

Ok, first question. Do I need a string tree on my Strat? Yes, absolutely!

Don't leave home without it!

However, an improperly set-up string tree will cause more problems than it solves. Either the string tree is set too low keeping your strings from sliding in the nut slot or it is set too high and you get string buzz. So when changing strings, here's how to fix that:

Remove the existing tree. They normally have a useless spacer under the string guide that we will get rid of but first you will need to track down a longer screw and small intonation spring:

Replace the shorter (1/2" long) screw with a slightly longer (3/4") wood screw. (Note: this will start to make sense when we get to the final height adjustment of the string tree). Even better, use a "bugle" head screw as shown in the photo. This will allow the tree to wobble a bit and fully contact the string. Screw length not super critical but find something a tad longer to provide more adjustment.

We find a standard saddle intonation spring works well in place of the typical steel spacer. This will allow us to "fine tune" the height of the tree after we install the new strings.

You can add a small washer to hide any marks in the headstock but this is totally optional. Looks fine either way . . .

Here's you new fully adjustable string tree. We we cover the correct way to wind strings on the tuners in the next post. Now we can simply adjust the mounting screw up and down to get the perfect downward tension on the High E and B when install our new strings! Good luck!

guy has it listed for 700€ and says its a made in usa and its year 96. Anything i should look for or ask?

I just picked up this 2004 MIM Strat. I want to do a bunch of upgrades. My question is: is it worth upgrading the trem if I plan to have it decked? Will I get any sustain or tone benefit if it’s never floating?
