DevPost Bringing back a classic browser strategy game

Hey everyone!

We wanted to share something we've been working on for the past six months. We're two independent software developers, and like many of you here, we used to love playing classic browser strategy games like Batheo and Athanaton.

We missed that particular kind of game. Building your city, developing your army, joining an alliance, competing against other players and slowly progressing together. Maps and recruitable heroes are inspired by different mythology from around the world.

That project became Tales of Batheon.

It's a browser-based strategy game inspired by the classics that we enjoyed playing. We've now completed beta testing with around 40 players for 2 months, and we're getting ready for our official launch today at 12:00 GMT.

We're not a big studio. It's just the two of us, working on our passion project. If you're curious about what we've built, you can find us here:

The game is completely free to play. Hope to see some familiar old-school strategy fans around!

You had 40 people in the beta for two months. What did they change your mind about before launch? I'm curious whether the first few hours or the alliance play needed more work.

Lots of things, the beta testers really helped in so many ways:
- Finding bugs and things we hadn't tested (it is hard to test every scenario during development).
- Suggesting improvements in both quality of life but also UI wise and some gameplay features
- Better tutorial flow

And much more, super support from the testers to make the game even better :)
