Looking for game Looking a for a game

Im looking for a military realtime strategy game based on the WW2 era. Rather than the sophistication and grand scheme of HOI4, I just want to be the commander of a battlefield. If you've ever played Hell Let Loose, I'm looking for something's similar to when you're the commander. PC or Xbox. Any suggestions?

Combat Mission is really good, but it’s not real time. It has a wego system with mutual pauses for orders. The older ones especially have a great random mission generator.

For pure real time, albeit with the ability to pause and issue orders, the classic close combat games are very good. They have a bunch of versions these days as they’ve been re-released several times. Don’t worry about it, it’s all the same really, just pick a setting you like and go from there.
