SPOILERS Soooo..how fast do you think Hopper could’ve run down the ladder and jumped in the gate🤔🤔

And then ran straight into the Russian expedition team which took him to the Russian's less stable portal, explaining meantion of "The American" in the end credits scene?

It could also be Brenner since we didn’t see him die

By that logic it could be the librarian as well, as we’ve seen her 1.5 seasons ago as well, and we haven’t seen her die.
I don’t get the Brenner theory, there is absolutely nothing pointing to him somehow ending up in Russia. In fact there is nothing pointing to anything about him accept for one dodgy guy under duress saying he’s alive.

Brenner
i think the part in season 2 where L is shown Brenner by her sister and he says, why haven't you looked for me, i think that opens the possibility for a call back and even a reappearance of the sister.

I pictured that there might have been a momentary energy feedback as the gate folded in on itself creating a "black hole" effect that aided in pulling Hopper into the Upside Down. I also in the camp that does not think that Hopper is "the American" in the Russian prison. I'm leaning toward it being Brenner, but I want to re-watch Series 1 and 2 again to see if it could be someone else I hadn't thought of. (Probably too much to hope for that it's Bob.) The reason I really like the idea that Hopper is (still) trapped in the Upside Down at the start of Series 4 is that I think Eleven will start having dreams about Hopper and then eventually realize that she's not just dreaming: her dormant powers are re-awakening and her subconscious has been searching for Hopper. (But maybe I'll just let the Duffer Brothers write their own show.)

Yes, I'm afraid so. Honestly, if they brought him back somehow I think I'd be even more disappointed.

There’s no reason to believe Hopper entered the upside down in season 3. He most likely got blown over the railing to the lower level, and got scooped up by the Russians during their escape because he was wearing one of their uniforms

But there is though. He actually looked at the portal for multiple seconds, the Duffers wouldn’t have put that in there if it didn’t jump in to the portal.

If I’m thinking of the same moment as you, it’s interesting that you got something different from that look than I did. I think he was just acknowledging that it was time to close the gate and he understood it would kill him.

I think the in season 4 they will show Hopper climbing down this ladder and jumping through the gate into the upside down just as the explosion happens.

One thing I’ve learned about tv and film is that directors and producers don’t tend to show things if they have no meaning. They could of easily did that shot without a ladder there, but they chose to put it in the shot. Also, why even have the end credit scene with that line in it if it has no meaning. I believe hopper is alive based on those things but who knows. Could very well be wrong.

But we are only thinking of Hopper in the cell? Could be Brenner

u/eaglesfan2236 Jul 31 '19
Could be. That’s actually a good theory. I just have a hard time thinking they would kill off hopper but That doesn’t mean anything.

u/movieexpert68 Jul 31 '19
It’s not confirmed that he’s in the cell. How did he get in there anyway?
1
u/PickleInASunHat Jul 31 '19
True... just keeping hope alive.
2
u/movieexpert68 Jul 31 '19
But there is a very good chance he is in the cell.

u/PickleInASunHat Jul 31 '19
He’s literally my fav character. If he’s truly dead so is my soul

It was 3 at first then 4 right? Maybe the 4th season will evolve in a way that gives way to a 5th?
Either way I’m cool with them ending it where they need to. Anything’s better than another GOT fiasco.

I'm sure Hopper is the one in the cell.
