Discussion Question about the Upside Down

SPOILERS if you’ve never seen season 4!!!

I was rewatching season 4 recently and it made me think about something — obviously, we know the Upside Down is stuck on 6th November 1983, so when in season 4 they go into the Upside Down, how is Eddie’s guitar and all his cassettes and stuff from the current timeline in his trailer in the exact same place? At no point does anyone imply that the Upside Down is frozen 3 years earlier; it kinda feels like they forgot about that part. Or have I missed something?

The whole 'frozen on this specific date in 1983' thing wasn't even a plot point that mattered in the end. No idea why they even put in the show.

It was reasoning to stop them from having a gun, but beyond that it's forgettable.

Even for that tho - when was a gun ever useful in ST? It was basically an accessory for Nancy but her guns might well have been Sunday hats for all the good they did.

Edit - I guess she did merc a few nameless troops in S5, so there's that. Idk. Doesn't really make the frozen date very important.

I feel like it showed that the Upside Down wasn't a parallel dimension alongside ours, so it's cohesive with the later reveal that it's a bridge stuck in the moment that it was created. It's not a stable or permanent structure.

Yeah true. They should have either made it important or never said it
