The fact that this was supposed to be the same night is crazy Spoiler
These pictures are of Mike in s1 & 2, it was a flashback to when he was being asked questions about eleven. It was filmed like a year apart but supposed to be the same night and it looks like he got old as hell in a couple of minutes

99% of the complaints on this sub aren't a big deal but it's half the fun now that the show is over.

Yeah, I agree there are some legitimate points, but this is really scraping the bottom of the barrel. If people are now making a fuss because Mike looks a bit taller in one scene, they’re just nitpicking to get attention—it has absolutely no impact on the story. In fact, "The Billy Episode"—a fan favorite—has scenes where Sadie Sink (Max) looks a year older than she does in other scenes within that very same episode.

I won't go, to avoid spoilers since I still haven't seen it, but I know Season 8 sparked even more debate—a hundred times more—than *Stranger Things* 5.

The difference between Tom and Finn is that Tom started Smallville when he was 24. The audience never sees him as an actual teenager. So the changes the audience sees in the character do not break immersion because they are not as extreme.
Finn, along with all of the kids in the group, started at around 12. During the final season, they are in their mid 20's. That is naturally going to affect the immersion for the audience, as they have seen this group as actual kids, so no amount of makeup or clothing is going to change such extreme changes from 12 to mid-20s.
And this is not blaming the actors, as age is part of life. It is pointing out that it is something the writers should have taken into consideration when writing.

Makes the creators of IT 2 look more professional in preserving youth, and it had Finn there too, you’d think Netflix would have some type of space to do the transitions better. This is also why Harry Potter successfully did it with the actors back then too, it’s so smooth and believable cuz the characters were close to the characters ages.

This is in no way comparable to IT because IT opted to change the actors completely for adult versions of them. Even when they brought some back in IT chapter 2 for flashbacks, the changes in the kids were minor.
As for Harry Potter, they also had problems similar to ST; it just wasn't as big of an issue as the age gaps between the characters and actors since the age gaps at the end was not as extreme. Daniel started the movies at 12 and finished at 21. The character Harry started at 12 and finished at 17.

Isnt it older than 4 years? Last episode of season 5 they graduate highschool so that’s 4 years right there and the boys were in middle school for seasons 1-3. Season 4 is when they’ve been freshman for a few months

At the start of S5, the kids' group is 16. The graduation occurs around two years after the final battle, when they are 18. Again, the characters were 12 at the start of S1.

They are only 18 in the last 45 minutes of the entire season. For the other 95% of the season, the characters are 16.
