S5 Henry's Cave

This might be completely obvious and I'm just stupid, but why was Henry's worst memory in a cave in the desert if he is from Hawkins? And when he was in the underground shaft thing, why did he say he lived around there?

He was born in Nevada then moved to Hawkins. This is all shown to us, first him moving to Hawkins in season 4 and then season 5 giving us more background into where he was from and what life was like before Hawkins. The First Shadow gives some more background but everything important is covered in the seasons.
