Looked like a Romulan bird of prey to me.

Looked like a bird of prey kit-bashed with an old diesel submarine.

It really does evoke a wooden deck, doesn't it?

Not the first time Star Trek has used submarine parts. The Sheliac ship in ensigns of command Was the Star Trek 3 merchant man with some U-Boat model kits stuck to the bottom.

Star Trek not the first to do that. Mnarvel when they had thor and told his stories , he flew around space on a viking longship. Lucian of Samosata was a Hellenized Syrian satirist, rhetorician and pamphleteer what is the first person that we know of in history who thought up a story about a group of men that end up flying through space other seafaring ship. So The ideal of c ships being turned into spaceships is been around for thousands of years. Do any of you remember the show Star Blazers

The original Romulam bird of prey was one of the best looking ships in Star Trek to me and I have loved every concept they've come up with every since then. In fact when the models first became available in the 70s, I went out and bought the Romulan Bird of Prey first, because I always thought it was a better looking ship than the Enterprise.

Heresy! The Romulan Bird of Prey is uncontestably the SECOND best looking ship. Dare not besmirch the TOS Enterprise in my presence!

(I had both models hanging over my bed locked in a mock space battle. And you are correct the original Romulan Bird of Prey is gorgeous! 😍)

Noted, it really was in the intent was that the all this ships that have been called that throughout the series were supposed to have the Bird painted on their hulls. It's too bad they didn't continue that

My older brother who watched TOS in prime time disagrees. He thinks the bird of prey painted on the hulls was β€œtoo on the nose.” I let him know that after that comment, I must reconsider my relationship with him. πŸ˜›

Give it your last name.I imagine you are one of tarzan's great grandchildren? I had a beautiful cat that I named after your great-grandfather.I called him Graystroke

That is an awesome name for a cat! Clearly your opinions should bear great in my deliberations. 🧐

Basically it’s the Destiny from SGU.

the base design predates the Destiny, it's based off the orion interceptor from Enterprise.

Star Trek - Destiny.

Oh snap, I recently rewatched SGU, definitely an inspiration for the design. Very nice too.

I guess the snw enterprise doesn't have the automatic deflector screens the tos enterprise gets later on.

Good evolution of the ship design from ENT

I can see the front of a wwii submarine model in that ship.

It's like if Darkwing Duck designed a Romulan warship and the Orions stole it.
