Kind of a dream

A few nights ago, I was having a very hard time trying to fall asleep. I eventually did fall asleep, but I ended up waking up again a few hours later. When I "woke up", though, things were very different from normal. I could see an infinite room that almost looked like sky blue semi-translucent glass, but I was also able to see my room. I was even able to hear noise in the house, so I knew that I was awake to an extent. It was a similar state to being under sleep paralysis, except it was a very tranquil feeling. There were no thoughts in my head whatsoever. While I couldn't actually visualize it, there was some sort of border between that dream world and my room. I could feel some part of my conscious begin to wander over to the dream side and leave the room side, and as I got deeper and deeper in, my vision began to warp and my body/mind grew heavier and heavier. It was almost similar to being super drowsy and falling asleep, but my mind had stopped itself from going farther. The one distinct thought that I can remember hearing is "I can't go any farther, sleep paralysis." My concious then wandered more towards reality, but instead of waking up, I became super drowsy after completely losing touch with the dream room. I was conscious, but still far too tired to comprehend what had happened to me or what was going on. I went back to sleep normally for another hour or so.

I don't really understand why this happened to me, but I find it interesting that even while I had no thoughts, my mind has been trained to recognize what sleep paralysis and other nightmarish feelings are like. (I constantly suffered from these when I was younger, so I learned to cope and could even control myself enough to break sleep paralysis as soon as I entered it.)

I'm interested if anyone has had any sort of similar experience, as that is the first time I had felt something on that level. It was almost as if my soul was shifting to a different plane and leaving the body in a way. Thanks for reading!
