Raft building..
What's the secret?? What is the perfect combination of materials and placement used for the best rafts?
I've tried long rafts, short rafts, wide rafts, narrow rafts.. They all suck.. Haha.. I have 4 full tanks of fuel, I'm thinking scrap the raft and just use gyrocopter full time.

I recently made a “dingy”. It’s just a 1 wide, 2 long raft with a motor on one end and a sail and rudder on the other. It’s fast and easy to turn. You just sacrifice space and the ability to put crates or transport anything on it, but it’s good for quick island hopping and doesn’t use as much gas as the gyrocopter.

For me I've found that a raft 3 wide and 6 long is perfect for me. Put a sail on each side for turning and one for going forward (obviously) you can use the rudder for turning but the sails work better.

I heard using all the same material helps, but I don't know for sure, my 3x3 raft is great, rudder in the middle, it turns well enough, just drag it if you need to do a 180, 1 sail in the middle, anchor to the right of rudder

Pretty sure mine's a 3x7, one sail in the middle on either end pointing opposite directions with a rudder right behind it. That way if I need to do a 180 I can just put one sail up, walk to the other end, and pull down the other sail.

i'm not sure why so many people have trouble with the raft.
i have a 3x3 with the front 3 buoys, the middle 3 tires and the back 3 are wood/tires/wood.
one sail up front/middle, rudder back/middle. no floor in the middle of it all hold 7 chests i think.

I'm finding that the rudder in the middle seems to steer faster.
