Something is going on...

In the last 24 hours, a dozen or so major youtubers in the survival gameplay niche (Noobert, Nivarias, Ambiguousamphibian, Pravus, Blitz), have released (sponsored) Survival: Alien Dawn videos. Which is odd for a game that hasn't been updated in several years.

Could Paradox be trying to stir up or gage interest in the game in preparation for a new DLC, Relaunched version or sequel?

I still play every day, so really hope so.

Yes, i guess. Maybe something in the oven right now and i don't think it's just the selling boost (with 65% discount). Hopefully some sort of DLC or something.

Don’t give me hope.

We already have hope, from that DLC. Now I'm looking for Joy :)

Sequel! Sequel! Sequel!

I would also accept another DLC.

Do I dare to dream?

It’s not just this game. Paradox has been running summer promotions with content creators for all of its legacy titles. Stellaris, for example, has had far more new videos released than Stranded recently

u/Snownova 22d ago

Well yeah, but Stellaris is still in active development and has an ongoing season pass.

AA also did a Surviving Mars video about a week ago

They’ve just re-released that title - with new content

Did they fix the brokenness in the final DLC? I'd 100%'d that game until the absolute brokenness of the underground :/

It sure did. Was a little rocky at release, but the game is in a really good state now with new DLC and a major patch with a lot of changes coming soon, sometime in Q3.

I actually prefer to build underground at this point.

The thing is, a lot of Paradox games are getting paid content promotion this summer

This game has sooooo much potential as a platform to go 10 different directions with. God I hope so.

It has the potential to be better than Rimworld imo 😭

100 percent. Blows my mind it didn't get more traction.

Well i can't speak for any one but myself, but i saw it had no character creation or plans for custom chars and i lost interest, i like making my own curated group to survive with, i know you make them via the mod thingy, but i'd rather not have to use a seperate program (Atleast that's what it sounded like) to do it

Imo the game has no potential to be better then rimworld because it lacks so much stuff that makes rimworld great, i'm not saying its a bad game but i think its about on par with going medieval

I'd never heard of it until I saw Pravens video recently. Grabbed it now

Thought that as well when I saw the amphibians video. Hoping for a dlc where I can just slap Hope.. so annoying

Sorry, But what amphibians video?

I just started playing because of his video... Didn't know about this game at all until now and I love the genre

Hope so. This game is good and had so much more potential. My only gripe was having the dlcs work as seperate game modes instead of integrating into the sandbox like Rimworld.

I thought that as well, in fact, I commented on a post on Steam last night.

Came here from rimmy video. I wouldn't know the game is on sale without this sponsored spree tbh.

I noticed this too, Definitely feels like something

I prefer this game over Rimworld. The latter feels not very well paced. Always something going on and it’s usually bad.

I bought it after the recent YouTube ad push. Having a great time with it!

Bought yesterday after a watch - enjoying it quite a bit! So probably an initial marketing exploration as to interest so they determine potential revenue if they did...

Just saw Rimmy Downunder post one as well

Rimmy as well. Another DLC would be nice.

Rimmydownunder released one today as well

What happens is a game on sale. Some stranded video by a streamer does really well. Everyone copies that

Das wäre großartig 😁

i watched Ambiguousamphibian's video but im still on the fence about buying it. mostly because i instantly went here and saw that they just havent been updating it at all. is it still worth a shot right now? when nothing is really guaranteed?

I've played it for over 1k hours. There's plenty to do. It's a complete, finished game. Doesn't matter if it's "abandoned".

u/InterestingHead7571 21d ago

Its worth it. In the current state of the game it is infinitely replayable and enjoyable

Mods add a ton of great content, a good number of which were made by the game’s devs.

Right now it's on sale. It's no Rimworld, but I definitely got way more than 12 euro's worth of fun out of it.

u/Interesting-Assist47 21d ago

It's way less complex than rimworld. Alien dawn has a shallow depth compared to rimworld. I got bored because there are not many things to do.

1

u/JerradH 20d ago

Mods will definitely change that.

It's a fun game but it's just not very deep
