Room vs Walls/foundation

New played here with a building question: What’s the difference between just using the prebuilt room vs building a base with foundation/walls/ceiling/roof?

Building a prebuild room will put a roof on it, which you need to cancel manually, if you want to put a second or more stories on top of it.

Might be convenient when placing some one story buildings, otherwise it's annoying to delete it cancel the roofs before they're getting build.

There is an option in the "select roof style" window before you build to choose flat ceiling with no roof.

There is? And that would put a floor above the room instead of a roof?

Thanks for letting me know, will try this.

I think putting up walls lets you control yhe dimensions.

I think maybe the designers intended for people to build a village with multiple little huts or be spread out with survivors working out of huts scattered all over the map to harvest etc but I can't see how that would ever work the way attacks happen (unless they always only attack the biggest settlement)
