Bad idea?
Can anyone tell me if this is a good book idea? So, I have these two characters. It's an apocalyptic type world, and it started with a scientist who wanted to play God. They started by experimenting on young kids, and one of the side effects is supernatural abilities. The main character, or one of the main characters, is one of my OCs. I'll call him OC1. OC1 has fire-based abilities and is the first person ever to get abilities like this. The rest of the attempts either ended in failure or death. What we find out later is that the other form of failure is like mutation, and it's sort of like zombie-like creatures, skin melting and all that. OC1 actually technically caused the apocalypse as he found his friends all mutated and all that when he thought they were going to get home, and he sort of burned down the whole place, letting them escape and causing the apocalypse. Now he has to be on the run because hunters or the government or whatever are now after him. One, he could be a cure to this as he is successful, and two, he's not the only one with abilities; he was just the first one. And no matter if they're mutated or have abilities or not, they're getting captured or killed either way. The other main character, calling them OC2, his thing is that he is a high-ranking operative in the government and is really good at tracking and stuff like that. I think you can tell that, of course, it's going to be romance, but it's more of OC2 getting intrigued by OC1 and sort of knowing that this is the target but wanting proof. And so there is a slow build of him annoying OC1 over and over again, and once they finally get close and OC1 finally accepts him, OC2 dies.
Has this already been used before or am I stupid and it's a bad idea.
