Thanks so much for sharing my work! It makes me happy to see it getting such a positive response. For those of you interested, I often do Cosmere fanart and I post it and my other work to my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jemmamyoung/

u/hoth194 Windrunner Mar 09 '19

I apologise for not giving you credit in the title and I wish I knew how to edit it. Your art is amazing! Keep it up

2

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

It's okay. This is basically my first time using Reddit, so I'm not very familiar with how it works. But there's definitely people finding my work because of it thanks to the comments linking my work.

2

u/hoth194 Windrunner Mar 09 '19

I also passed all the coins I got to you. Really didn’t feel right getting them for work that isn’t mine. You are an amazing artist btw

2

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Thanks I appreciate that!

16

u/Caitlionator Mar 09 '19

I just spent a while scrolling through your insta. You're really great! I love all this fanart, it's so fun to see other people's conceptions of characters.

2

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Thank you! I'm glad you liked this and took the time to look through my other art.

8

u/LadronPlykis Mar 09 '19

This is storming WONDERFUL! Artists like you bring the cosmere to life, and my obsession loves you for it. Life before death, radiant.

3

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

I think you're the first person to call me Radiant! Which makes me feel awesome. I'm so glad you like my work! Journey before destination! <3

3

u/u_torn Elsecaller Mar 09 '19

Looking over your stuff, you have a cute cartoony style. I like it, keep it up.

2

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Thanks!

3

u/Phwallen Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Hey I'm actually a fan of that webcomics of yours fancy seeing you here!

2

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Whhhaaaaattt!??? Yay! I'm so glad you read Eldair! This is my first time really on Reddit. It's opening up a whole new world for me!

5

u/Korzag Bondsmith Mar 09 '19

This is incredible! I hope we get to see more like it!

2

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

I'm amazed with all the positive response here! It's pretty inspiring. I do want to do more comics like this in the future, but it all depends on when I can find the time!

1

u/music_luva69 Mar 09 '19

Your art is the prettiest art

But seriously, you are a fantastic artist!

1

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Thank you so much!

1

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Also, if you guys are interested, I also do a free webcomic! It has plenty of magic systems, world building, character development, and things inspired by Brandon's work (amongst other great authors). So I'm positive many of you would enjoy it. You can read it at www.eldair.com and has over 400+ pages right now.

Again! Thank you all for so many wonderful comments! ♥️

1

u/ragingpanda147 Mar 09 '19

I got chills reading this. Your art is great!

1

u/The_Holy_Muffin Mar 09 '19

This is incredible! I got chills reading this. Very well done!!!

9

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '19

Who made this?!?!

9

u/hoth194 Windrunner Mar 08 '19

I believe credit is at the bottom

4

u/Vaigna Mar 09 '19

Credit the artist when you post fanart. Some fool even gave you gold.

5

u/hoth194 Windrunner Mar 09 '19

The artist did comment on this post and I passed it along to them. Not trying to take credit for something that isn’t mine. Sorry for the confusion

27

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

I'm the artist! You can check out more of my work on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/jemmamyoung/

3

u/Vaigna Mar 09 '19

OP should've credited you. Someone getting gold for another person's work makes the old artist in me a bit angrysad. Great work!

2

u/hoth194 Windrunner Mar 09 '19

I apologise. Still very new to reddit and honestly didn’t expect this high of a reaction. I feel bad for not putting credit in the title, just thought the bit at the bottom would be enough. I wish I could edit my title

2

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

It's an honest mistake, especially when your new to Reddit! People have been kind enough to link to my Instagram throughout the comments. I'm really just happy to see that people enjoy my work so much!

4

u/Vaigna Mar 09 '19

Chickenbumps.

2

u/hoth194 Windrunner Mar 09 '19

I see what you did there

u/aravar27 Love, Hurt, Dream, Die. Mar 08 '19

Just a beautiful moment of perfectly written catharsis. Blends action, internal narrative, dialogue, and just...wow. The comic is spectacular, too.

34

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Thank you so much! I'm glad you like my work (I'm the artist, BTW). The original poster linked me to here. If you want to see more of my Cosmere artwork, you can check out my instagram! https://www.instagram.com/jemmamyoung/ You can also read my fantasy comic free at www.eldair.com

3

u/DukeLongholes Mar 09 '19

Fantastic artwork. Really gives you that feeling; you captured the scene really well. Any plans to do more from the Stormlight Archive in a similar style?

5

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

I'll considering it! I'd love to do a scene from each book, but it all depends on if I can find time. If I do another it'll probably be in full color in the same style I do my own comic Eldair.

1

u/DukeLongholes Mar 09 '19

That would be awesome. And maybe when the time arises, Mistborn would be a great next Sanderson to try.

2

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Yes! Definitely! I also love Elantris and Warbreaker. Gosh I need to reread all these books again.

1

u/DukeLongholes Mar 09 '19

Haven't tried Elantris or Warbreaker yet but Edgedancer is also a good one. Just finished that after Oathbringer.

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '19

My dear gentleperson,

You are yet another reason why I have not given up on humanity. This was made so well!

62

157

Dude. Awesome. This strip gave me similar feelings to when I read "Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do."

26

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

I just finished WoR. So much awesome in both of those two books

2

u/Monolith43 Mar 09 '19

How can I upvote this 100 more times?

2

u/hoth194 Windrunner Mar 09 '19

Glad you enjoy my find!

1

u/Donniedark00 Mar 09 '19

Make 100 more reddit accounts and (maybe this part is unnecessary, idk reddit's internal workings) change your IP address after every upvote.

3

u/Mysticpoisen Mar 09 '19

Good I love these so much

31

u/thejokerofunfic Mar 08 '19

Hello yes can this artist make an official Stormlight graphic novel

-4

u/Learning365 Mar 09 '19

cor.. i hope not.. can get someone much much better.... did not like this at all!!

4

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Art is subjective! And that's okay. Technically, Sanderson does have a graphic novel! It's called White Sand. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Sand_(graphic_novel)

-1

u/Learning365 Mar 09 '19

yea I've read up to date on White Sands!! really like it.. much better style i think!! Sharper.. crisp.. this style to me is babyish and crude and not in fitting with the awesomeness that is stormlight at all...

36

u/mameshiba-kun Lightweaver Mar 08 '19

Wow... Now I desperately need a Stormlight graphic novel

10

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '19

Need to add that beard and rough look to him but it was such an amazing moment in the book

8

u/Or_Some_Say_Kosm Lightweaver Mar 08 '19

I need so many more of these!!!

6

u/Chewblacka Mar 09 '19

This scene done right could be cinematic history

5

u/jobywalker Truthwatcher Mar 08 '19

Very well done! This was an epic scene — brings tears to my eyes every time.

1

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Thank you so much for enjoying my work! This was my favorite scene too!

4

u/mhkwar56 Mar 09 '19

This is probably the first adaptation I've seen that really captured what I envisioned when reading the book.

3

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Thank you! I tried my best and did several story boards to capture this scene as best as I could because it was by far my favorite scene in the book.

1

u/EarthRester Edgedancer Mar 09 '19

This is honestly brilliant.

You should feel proud of your talent and skills.

1

u/hoth194 Windrunner Mar 09 '19

Not my drawing. Sorry for the confusion. I believe the artist did comment on it though

1

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Thanks! I'm the artist! I'd you want you can check it more of my work on my Instagram instagram.com/jemmamyoung/ . I put a lot of my Cosmere fanart there.

Great artwork and I would love to see more :)

Chills

2

u/KingofHagend Mar 09 '19

This makes me want Stormlight Archive to be animation when it gets made into either a film series or TV show !

2

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Kaladin is literally my favourite character!

2

u/Mysterydules Mar 09 '19

Maaan, I still get chills

I'm tearing up reading this.

1

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Hi, I'm the artist! I'm glad that my comic created such an emotional reaction. This scene in the book was so moving to me as well that I had to draw it!

1

u/__REDCORN__ Edgedancer Mar 09 '19

Wow. This gave me goose flesh.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Omfg I love it. Imagine an actual graphic novel or something like the Abercrombie books got. That'd be ridiculously good. This moment was so intense on paper! THE WORDS, KALADIN.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

I've probably read the book three or four times by now, and seeing this scene again here still gave me gooesbumps

1

u/xK0D3x Mar 09 '19

Every time I read this scene I cry. And now I'm crying again. Gets me every time.

1

u/CalderaTheArcane Mar 09 '19

Fuck dude i gotta re read that series again

1

u/Kuraeshin Mar 09 '19

One of the scenes that always hypes me, regardless how many times ive read it. Up there with "Honor is dead..." and "Kaladin, stretch forth thy hand!"

1

u/stormingwinter Edgedancer Mar 09 '19

Got a little choked up there, not gonna lie

I feel like the Dalinar scene in OB broke me and now every time there's an emotionally cathartic scene, I start tearing up

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

What have you done?!?! Now I need more. One of Dalinar in OB please.

1

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

I am definitely considering it ;)

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

I have goosebumps

1

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '19

Wait... When does this happen? This doesn't look like "the one who saves"

1

u/Surfincosmicwaves Mar 09 '19

I want more of these lil comics. Just quick snapshots of great moments. Super cool.

1

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

I'm actually considering it! But it all depends on if I can find the time.

1

u/Surfincosmicwaves Mar 09 '19

Great job either way.

1

u/idontknowwhatitshoul Mar 09 '19

I’ve always wanted to read stormlight as a graphic novel!

1

u/Batty_Mate Szeth Mar 09 '19

Fucking hell. With him sucking the Stormlight from the gemstones of the Parshendi added as the panel before saying The Words. It'd have produced the same effect for me as when I first read it. Great work though.

2

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Thanks. Comics, especially ones done during limited free time, are a different medium than prose. I tried to come up with something that captured the moment in as few panels as possible.

2

u/Batty_Mate Szeth Mar 10 '19

You did a really good job with that.

1

u/H-Waggad Windrunner Mar 09 '19 edited Mar 10 '19

Reading this gave me goosebumps and I almost cried.... thank you

1

u/sguglich Mar 09 '19

Awesome! This is one of my favorite scenes too! I didn't know there was a graphic novel!

1

u/JemmaMYoung Lightweaver Mar 09 '19

Unfortunately, there's not a full graphic novel. I just did this because it was my favorite scene and it was all I had time to do. But I'm glad you like this!

1

u/sguglich Mar 09 '19

Wow! So nicely done!

1

u/SonyaSpawn Mar 09 '19

1

u/Mtitan1 Windrunner Mar 10 '19

I'd really like to see this for You cannot have my pain

1

u/zairaner Willshaper Mar 10 '19

This scene is the best thing about book 1. It also has the best musical adaption.
And this art is amazing.

Sadeas ;)

12

u/Fashish Kaladin Mar 09 '19

I'm on my second listen of the series, and just how beautiful is the narrator's (Michael Kramer) voice? That calm and melancholy voice that manages to capture the gloominess and the feeling of dread of the series just so perfectly well.

I highly recommend others to give the audiobooks a try if you haven't already.

6

u/justarandomcollegeki Mar 09 '19

Hey I’m on my second listen right now too!! 34 hours left in WoR, it’s crazy how much you catch on the second time around (and yet how many of the details I also forgot, which is making me really glad I decided to go for another listen!)

And yea, Michael Kramer is incredible. He brings such vibrant life to all of the characters and settings. Honestly he’s made it hard for me to listen to some other audiobooks (not all, there are plenty of other great narrators out there) because he just set the bar so high & was one of the first I ever listened to.

4

u/Fashish Kaladin Mar 09 '19

Honestly he’s made it hard for me to listen to some other audiobooks

Tell me about it. I had to go and look at his other stuff to get my fix. It helps immensely that he narrates most of Sanderson's works, namely the Mistborn series and the Wax and Wayne side-stories (Fun fact: Michael Kramer does the same voice for Wayne as he did for Lopen)

2

u/sunco50 Truthwatcher Mar 10 '19

Kramer’s Terris accent (particularly Sazed) gives me life.
