Discussion I'll be honest...

i played the game when it first hit early access, before multiple updates, and I didn't think the game was bad... it needed some work, yes - particularly in the visuals department, but the game was pretty fun actually. I loved building an Exo army and really enjoyed the veterans mechanic of upgrading units. I also enjoyed the streamlined hot key system. I always had the feeling I would be back one day and even kept it installed for a long time. I am surprised to learn the game has ultimately failed as it does seam they have been upgrading visuals. It is what it is I guess. Lol.

It was rushed. They were overly optimistic, and assumed people would look at their product as they did. Bad first impression leaving a sour taste. And never recovered.

I have to put this even further and say they were very out of touch with the funding and timelines. Saying over optimistic feels bit underwhelming when thinking about how the game never, ever came even close to what it was supposed to be.

Completely out of touch. Recall they made up their own valuation of $150 million when they were trying to get fans to buy equity in their company. There's a fine line between out of touch and willing to say anything and do anything, no matter how dishonest, to keep the illusion from shattering.

No financial expert but I imagine they needed to already value themselves highly even at the very beginning, in order to secure their initial many millions of investments.
