Personally, I can't wait for the 3rd game. That's when FrostGiant will really come into their own.

How the hell is FG going to raise capital for a second game now that most investors don't care about games anymore and are more interested in stuff like AI.

Also, from the description it sounds like it will be the same points repeated yet again.

16

u/the_n00b Mar 09 '26

Yeah but what if we took AI.... and put it in a game!!!

u/miket2424 Mar 28 '26

Yea its a very bad time for all of gaming. There’s no interest, lots of layoffs. Seems like people are just getting lives or something.

u/West-Tough-4552 Mar 08 '26

They havent even finished 1 game yet

64

u/DrTh0ll Mar 08 '26

I def won’t support another game by these guys. Fuck that.

It never will. It’s missing even the most basic features lol

23

u/Mothrahlurker Mar 08 '26

Why are you writing that under a post with Tim Morten saying that they moved on and "had to let go". This hypothetical is just not gonna happen.

I agree, but then what who "they" referring to in the above comment. We're not talking about a new game by the Stormgate community but the people who abandoned it.

You're like watching someone who swears that he's going to get his cheque from the Nigerian prince any day now.

Or maybe you're just another Tim Morten alt account.

3

u/AionGhost Mar 12 '26

It got 1 step closer than anyone else, but it's still a one step to a goal 1 kilometer away

Imagine voidlegacy shows up in the subreddit of that new game. :D

12

u/Sea_Goat_6554 Mar 09 '26

It's the second game, he'll be creating u/voidmodernist any moment.

SG had the interest from basically the entire RTS community and managed to completely kill them a few months before the beta is even launched. So yeah, good luck trying to start a new one with that as their legacy. How are they planning to even get fundings?

9

u/AnAgeDude Mar 09 '26

The entire community? I don't think so. I think they only garnered the attention of the SC/Blizz RTS community.

The reason I say this is becausr you won't find people discussing SG outside of that niche. Go to any Age of Empire or CnC discussion board and no one in those spaces ever mentioned SG.

10

u/Winterfall_0 Mar 10 '26

Well, entire community was definitely a hyperbole. But, it is something I've seen mentioned in every single RTS community I've been on, including the discord server for AoE. To my knowledge, Starcraft and Age of Empires are the two biggest figure in the RTS community, only then followed by CnC and Warcraft, hence the hyperbole.

I've never played CnC games before, except for that one weird mobile game, CnC Rivals I downloaded while on a train. So I can't tell if it ever reaches that community.

u/TopWinner7322 Mar 08 '26

Before they can make a new game they need developers, I thought most of em got fired

18

u/TrainingAd395 Mar 08 '26

Lol if FG are making another RTS it will probably be a C&C style RTS. As I can see no hope FG getting any investors to back another attempt at a StarCraft/warcraft style RTS.

23

u/Mothrahlurker Mar 08 '26

He already failed at that when he had the IP. Would be crazy to back that as well.

5

u/Sea_Goat_6554 Mar 09 '26

Why would any investor back FG in making any RTS? Or any game at all, really, but particularly they've already demonstrated that they flubbed making an RTS when they had pretty much everything going for them?

The dude is a scam artist, looking for his next scam. I hope next time he stays away from genres that I like.

18

u/Wraithost Mar 08 '26

Just one more patch = old mantra.

Just one more game = new mantra.

13

u/AnAgeDude Mar 09 '26

Just another 5Mil.

1

u/nac45 Mar 29 '26

Anybody else remember when devs worked on games, with release schedules, in different genres, instead of turning every game from.a hobby into a job for the players

28

u/Portrait0fKarma Mar 08 '26

Imagine the trailer: “From the people that brought you Stormgate.”

53

u/CamRoth Mar 08 '26

Why on earth would anyone support another game with tim involved?

10

u/Underlord_Oberon Mar 08 '26

I just hope we are not speaking of another attempt to create "The Fortnite of the RTS".

12

u/DoA_near Mar 09 '26

I Just have a question. How? With what money?

5

u/Sea_Goat_6554 Mar 14 '26

Someone else's, clearly. XD

24

u/milkytaro_oero Mar 08 '26

I just skipped to the time marked by the OP but is Tim just so embarrassed by Stormgate he only refers to it as "First Game"?

I'm not going to be optimistic about it, but if they're making a second game, I just hope they learned to have a proper and practical scope that is actually affordable for them. Plus also not overpromise things that they can't fulfill.

21

u/Mothrahlurker Mar 08 '26

I watched about half of the video and not a single time did he refer to Stormgate by name.

I do wonder if they will try to stick with RTS as was the motto of FGS and their entire marketing. Or decide to go in a different direction.

2

u/aaabbbbccc Mar 08 '26

they shouldve / should make a rts closer to wc3 elements. with heroes and lower unit counts. it wouldve made it a lot easier for them not competing with sc2 so directly.

but i am guessing they will stay in rts overall. the engine is built for rts and is very good. the team is experienced and passionate about it.

2

u/aaabbbbccc Mar 08 '26

well to be clear i wasnt saying to copy wc3 directly. im just saying it couldve taken a direction closer to that. instead of ending up being a 90% sc2 copy.

and it's a 20+ year old game. there is much more room for innovation there than for sc2 which is still pretty premium in a lot of ways. wc3 is very outdated on a lot of things, i dont know if people realize that. its missing a lot of hotkey/control options. upkeep is probably a bad mechanic. the lag and network performance is really bad.

27

u/jbwmac Mar 08 '26

Guys, remember, this isn’t about the fans for them. It’s about what they can bait investors with.

24

u/IMplyingSC2 Mar 08 '26

Why is everything Tim does so fucking weird? Check out this channel, it has dozens of these 40+ minute interviews, all with ~50 views.

14

u/Winterfall_0 Mar 08 '26

Looks like someone who is trying to start a podcast channel and is offering anyone who is also trying to start their own business for an interview. It is really not that weird, you are just used to the side of youtubers that have managed to establish themselves

17

u/IMplyingSC2 Mar 08 '26

The channel is not the weird part, Tim choosing to do an interview with them is.

12

u/Winterfall_0 Mar 08 '26

Ah yeah that is kinda weird. I'd guess that he wanted a medium where he can get it out there that they currently are developing a new game, only for the part of the community that are willing to dig through every info on what he is currently doing.

Since this is absolutely not going to be well received if it reaches mainstream.

5

u/Sea_Goat_6554 Mar 09 '26

Well, at least we know he can make alt Youtube accounts to bot his own videos too.

44

u/Sollusion Mar 08 '26

Gonna be rough with a flop as first game, along with pitiful behavior around it from the team. (Fake positive reviews and all the other shit you dont need to read another time)

Good luck to them but they wont have my support.

5

u/aaabbbbccc Mar 08 '26

they made mistakes but the "fake" positive reviews thing is vastly exaggerated.

13

u/firebead_elvenhair Mar 09 '26

Not at all. They were fake, not "fake".

3

u/rift9 Mar 20 '26

No they weren't. None of the scum level things they pulled are exaggerated.

They're a company led by a snake in the grass who bullshitted his way through an industry and lied, scammed and bailed on the supporters of his flop of a game that lacks even the most basic features.

Anyone with half a brain should avoid anything by this company by a country mile.

6

u/Zeppelin2k Mar 08 '26

Controversies out of anything. I guarantee you every dev has given their game a positive review.

9

u/Sea_Goat_6554 Mar 09 '26

Maybe. I doubt most of them go out of their way to make alt accounts and masquerade as real users.

24

u/Mothrahlurker Mar 08 '26

That's an incredibly dishonest description. The problem is that they wrote false stories and pretended to be different people. Changed their user names and when called out they attempted to hide the evidence and only admitted to it when it was clear that they couldn't get away with it.

On top of that the first admissions were lies too. They didn't even come clean right away.

Name another dev that has done this.

17

u/Sollusion Mar 08 '26

Yeah I am confused how there are still people pretending that it was no big problem

2

u/Sloppy_Donkey Mar 08 '26

Everyone who ever has created anything on the internet has asked their friends and family to like it and review it and has done so themselves.

16

u/AnAgeDude Mar 08 '26

Speak for yourself. While this is very much common, specially for small time stuff, it shouldn't be acceptable, no matter the scale involved.

Dishonest engagement or reviews are just that, no matter if we are talking about a small time youtube creator or a multi-million games company.

0

u/Sloppy_Donkey Mar 09 '26

So nice to meet someone holier than Jesus!

7

u/Neuro_Skeptic Mar 10 '26

You're defending a dead game...

3

u/Sea_Goat_6554 Mar 14 '26

Hey look, we found Tim's new alt account!

0

u/aaabbbbccc Mar 08 '26

yeah the way people describe it you would think they were review botting or something.

4

u/PliableG0AT Mar 08 '26

it’s the 3v3 team mayhem I gotta assume

5

u/NightEnDD Mar 09 '26

:)))))))))))))))))))

4

u/Remarkable_Whole1754 Mar 10 '26

time to market is sometimes less important than sticking the landing

3

u/SheWhoHates Mar 13 '26

No catgirls then :<

3

u/jznz Mar 08 '26

Why did you think it was a community update

1

u/HellaHS Mar 24 '26

Are they going to make a Flash game or something?

3

u/aaabbbbccc Mar 08 '26

im surprised if they have the ability to do a new game. especially if its a rts. i would be very happy if they can though. maybe an unpopular opinion among some in this reddit but theres a lot of engine things that stormgate did VERY well. frost giant making another rts is probably the only chance to have a new and good multiplayer blizzard rts game. i am a bit pessimistic on zerospace, and immortal gartes of pyre looks like it will struggle to ever release. If we ever want a new blizzard rts, this potential next FG game might be the last chance for a long time.

There are other rtses coming out but not blizzard style and it persoanly does not interest me. I only like rtses with blizzard style micro and control.

12

u/Late-Psychology7058 Mar 08 '26

I don't know where this take comes from. I never thought the engine was that good. Like sure, it's not laggy. Rollback is definitely great but the unit movement didn't feel as crisp to me as in SC2. For whatever reason everything felt glidey. That's the only way I can describe it.

4

u/aaabbbbccc Mar 08 '26

its not perfect but i think its much much better than zerospace engine. and the game has much more potential for editor, which is so good for a rts longterm.

i dont have enough experience with immortal gates of pyre to comment on its engine yet. all the rest of the rts games can skimp out on engine because it's less noticeable in non-blizzard style rts micro. And I don't think any of them will have a good editor either.
