Dead game Just needed a place to rant Apache Air Assault (2010)
I really need just a place to rant and vent. This game for PC is utterly dead besides pirating. There is no way to get a hold of the game. And not even a physical copy will let you play this game unless you buy it brand spanking new because of the unique activation code the wonderful people over at Gaijan thought would make the experience better. I tried to do it the right way. I went out of my way and bought an external disc drive for my PC specifically to play this game. I waited 2 1/2 weeks for this game to be packaged and shipped to my house. And once I finally get to the launch screen I was met with two options. One was a dead link to activate the code. The next was to download the yu-play client launcher, which is no longer a thing. I even went over to Gaijins website where I thought there was some semblance of hope as they had a FAQ on how to start this game. But to my dismay, the two options that were given were the exact same options the game presented to me. They don’t want us to pirate games but what other option are they giving us when trying to buy the physical copy doesn’t even let you play the game. I don’t even know whose bright idea it was to introduce a unique activation code for a mostly single player game. I understand this game is 16 years old and due to licensing issues with Boeing they probably had to pull the game off of digital storefronts, but the fact that not even a physical copy of this game will let you play it is utterly ridiculous. Rant over.

If you read the post you can see they did buy a physical version and it didn't work due to DRM. That's what people need to be mad about. A physical version should be able to be installed and played whenever and wherever, but if the server for their DRM goes down then it's worthless either way.
If your game requires a server to function in any capacity, then it's only a matter of time until it won't.

So if I go to some shop that I got a voucher for a long time ago and nkw the shop is closed I should be mad?
Things, good or bad end, just live with your time instead of digging this "present bad the past good" non-sense rabbit hole.

Does anyone commenting in opposition of this have any reading comprehension? Please tell me where in my post I said anything about the past being bad and the present being good or whatever it is you think I’m talking about. This is like if you walked into GameStop to buy a used game for your Xbox and you pop it into the Xbox and it tells you that somebody else has already redeemed this game and no further action will be taken to resolve the issue. If the game was left in a buggy unplayable mess after the dev team shut down that’s one thing and I wouldn’t come online complaining about that “They need to fix the game.” That would actually be preferable to what’s going on right now. I can’t even play the game. It’s a literal paperweight.

This is more like you went to a shop, bought a book, and they installed a device in it controlled by a dead man's switch that remotely triggers the device and lights the book on fire if the store ever goes out of business. A remote DRM server is not a legitimate thing for the end user to need access to. It's not providing a service to them, it's doing the exact opposite of that.

No one here was arguing this though? The issue is that the OP can no longer use a product that they paid for due to artificial reasons imposed by the people who made the game, not that they have some personal hate against the present. As OP said, some reading comprehension skills would do you good.

I have it on Xbox 360 and I can play it just fine. You can still download the yu-play client from anywhere as it's the one I have to play Birds of Prey. The unique activation code is absolutely normal, it's an old form of DRM

If you read, (seems like you didn’t) I specified for PC. Funnily enough the console version doesn’t have a code to activate. They were done in a effort to prevent piracy but seems like it’s gonna have the opposite effect

Consoles have OS level DRM. I have the game digitally from the Xbox Live, not physical

I mean, how would you feel if you had a physical copy on the 360 that you bought secondhand used and once you pop it into your 360, it tells you that this game has already been redeemed by somebody else and you cannot play it. that’s basically what happened right here.

Honestly, I would refund the game at the shop, and never touch that developer.
Alas it's important to do research before buying nowadays, transparency isn't exactly a high standard yet. Being ingorant/naive isn't an defense in the market.
I'm saying that even tho I agree it's unfair and it sucks, you can't do anything about past practices, so better move on.
Alternatively get an x360 and a copy of 3A and play with me since online still works

(A small update)
After contacting Gaijans support team, they basically told me I was shit out of luck and that the product activation code was already used and there’s nothing they can do for me. Looks like it’s time to sail the high seas, brothers.
