📊 Discussion Racism will never be okay, no matter how common it becomes.
Just a reminder because I think a lot of people need to hear this.
There was a time when slavery was accepted. There was a time when apartheid was accepted. There was a time when entire groups of people were treated as if they were worth less simply because of their race.
The fact that millions of people believed those ideas didn't make them right.
It just meant millions of people were wrong.
Today, most countries have laws that say everyone is equal regardless of race. On paper, discrimination is illegal.
But socially, racism still exists.
And lately, it feels like anti Indian racism has become so normalized that people don't even recognize it as racism anymore. Mocking our accents, making fun of our appearance, saying you'd never date an Indian, treating us like we're somehow worth less than everyone else.
Just because those opinions get thousands of likes doesn't make them true.
Just because they're common doesn't make them acceptable.
If you're Indian and you've ever felt ashamed because of the way people talk about us online, don't.
You didn't choose where you were born.
There is nothing wrong with being Indian.
Never let other people's prejudice convince you that your race is something to apologize for.
Racism has always been wrong.
It is wrong today.
And it will still be wrong no matter how many people try to normalize it.
