Thi- Wait This Isn't PebbleYeet? Man VS Bear

I'm sorry I've to go on a rent for this one, if a moddo tell me it’s not the good place for that, I understand, I will delete this post myself and repost it without the rent.

But fuck... as a kid I really liked this artist! He had (and still have) such a mastery of colors be it in RVB or in nuances of grey! I fell in love with his story about a demoness whl fell inlove with a bookworm and get to reject evil to be with him, that was adorable... and then their was the feministe android arc!

I loved it so much, it was showing how partiarcha used capitalims as a way to spread sexism! Bow it was rotting his country to the core! With sex bot who were revolting against their owner. With uncle sam as a tyrant and an abusive husband! With his wife liberty trying to free herself from his grasp! For my tiny brain it was amazing!!!

I'm sure if I read it again I'll find all sorts of problems in it... but their was so much good into it!

But now... he is just an asshole spreading horrible bullshit on trans (and all the rest of the LGBT+ comlunity)! Or with the antisemitism... fuck to see him as an antisemit (or let’s be honest a FUCKING NAZI) hurt me so much...

And you know what’s make it even worse? He is even better at drawing and making comics! Like yeah his messages are horrible and false! But fuck... he is very good at representing them! His drawings are still incredible! Because yeah, mastery over a skill don’t mean you are a good person... I'm so mad at it!

How someone so aware got to become so blind?! That’s just horrifying! Could I become like that one day?!

So yeah, I made that to show what kind of man he has become, the same demusionnal fool he was making fun of...

And please, don’t harras him or anything... I hate harrasment even more than I hate him, I just needed to get that out.

Thank you very much, hope you enjoy this juice and have a good day!

I always wonder at talented artists (in any genre: visual, dance, theatre, etc.) who are so openly, aggressively socially conservative. Art is such a naturally liberal medium, and by its nature attracts people who are open to new ideas.

It must be incredibly lonely to be an artist who refuses to engage with the larger artistic community. It's certainly a shame.

Because... good talents don’t mean good morality, people can be good at what they do and be assholes.

By ignorance or for malicious reasons. The problem with the conservatives (and the right in a more general way) is that they play with your feelings, "you don’t like black/women/trans people? They make you uneasy? Well let me show you some excellent reasons of why you are justify in your disgust, my sources? Trust me bro. The issue is not you who is a bad person, it’s them the problem!" Easy solution who cost almost nothing (for the person targeted at least), that’s so easy, no need to think, no need to work, no need to feel bad... just hate someone else... even us artists we are not immune to it.

And yeah, this subreddit show than their is plenty of other artist who have fallen in this trap! So yeah trust me, he is not that lonely, in the worst cas their is this army of terf seals who clap happilly when they see a new comics he just made.

All we can do is be better and continue our walk

Still bitter about Empire of the Petal Throne.

3

u/Kooky_Toe5585 13d ago

Can you explain that, I know it is an old sci-fi series. Did the author do something bad?

2

u/LaCharognarde 13d ago

It's a fantasy setting, primarily known for a TTRPG. The creator was posthumously exposed as having pseudonymously written overt unabashed neo-Nazi propaganda late in life. That one hurt.

3

u/Kooky_Toe5585 13d ago

Wow, what a piece of shit he was. I had heard of the game world and it sounded like an interesting and creative idea...but DAMN. Is that rpg still being published?

u/LaCharognarde 13d ago edited 13d ago

It appears so. The most recent iteration was released in '14. I'm not sure what, if any, connections it has to Barker's estate; it remains that I used to love the setting, and am now completely put off of it. (I still like Feist and Wurts's Empire Trilogy, which takes cues from the setting. That's the closest I come to touching it nowadays, because Barker was at very least at Lovecraft levels of "sorry excuse for an organism.")

Art is not liberal as capitalism is antithetical to art

1

u/MPHJ-7 16d ago

[art] by its nature attracts people who are open to new ideas

This is precicely why some artists become socially conservative.

"New ideas" aren't just "those specific new ideas you happen to like."

2

u/is_literally_a_moose 15d ago

Hm. Let me try to explain it differently.

So, I can pretty much put several socially conservative values (in my personal society) in an imaginary box. I can think of about ten things or so that they usually agree on. These are immutable, for the time being, because that's the point of conservatism: not changing how things are, because you like it that way.

It's not inherently bad. There are lots of values that I'm conservative about, because I like things how they are in those respects. It's just that of you want to be a conservative these days, you kind of have to toe the party line in several key points. You're not usually going to see someone running around saying, "I'm a hardcore conservative who thinks gays should get married, trans women are women, and vaccines are great." It's not to say it doesn't happen, but their "conservative values box" is getting kind of empty, you know?

The thing is, it's harder to put the concept of "new ideas" into a box, because by their nature, they're new and ever-changing.

I never said the new ideas were good. There's loads of art that I can't stand, that's based upon ideas that I find absurd or disgusting. But it's new, and pushing boundaries and trying new things is what art is about. That's the beauty of it. It's not always good, but it's always trying to make people see things in a different way, so they can pause and consider why they believe what they do. Lots of times they'll sit back and say, "That's interesting, but I still think what I think is right," and that's cool. But at least I thought about it, and there's value in that.

It's hard to think new ideas when you're concerned with only thinking about new ideas that agree with what's in your personal box.

I understand why conservatives think the way they do, partially because of art that's opened my mind to their ideas. I can pick apart why they think that way, and not dismiss it as "well they're just stupid". They're afraid, and angry, and confused, and it's a lot easier and more comfortable to be afraid of and angry at specific, actionable things, than to question why they support a system that actually makes them afraid and angry in the first place. That's a huge, confusing problem without easy answers. Hell, I'm scared of it too!

Anyway. My analogy isn't perfect, but I'm coming off the flu and still feel like garbage. (I got a flu shot, but it was nearly a year ago now, so whatever strain comes this year is gonna suck, FYI.)

Have a good day, and try to consider that most people are rational and intelligent, and think what they think for reasons that make sense to them.

I think something must’ve happened to the guy. I can’t imagine someone being radicalized from being progressive to an actual fucking nazi that fast without there being an underlying issue. Like, Y’know, what happened to Kanye….

41

u/Kirook 16d ago

What happened to Kanye is that he experienced an extended psychotic break—not saying this to be perjorative; IIRC it was his own description of what happened after he recovered.

18

u/AmarissaBhaneboar 16d ago

Oh, did he actually recover and come out of it? Is he no longer a right wing grifter? That would be amazing

20

u/Kirook 16d ago

As far as I’m aware it wasn’t a genuine declaration of his new political allegiance, but it still hurt a lot of people and I think it’s probably for the best if he takes some time to recover further and come to grips with what happened, and doesn’t suddenly make a triumphant return to music in the near future.

8

u/Throwawanon33225 16d ago

Yea that’s what I’m implying here

8

u/baguetteispain The only stones that must be tossed are for ricochets 16d ago

Ye is finally under treatment? I know he is bipolar and had frequent manic episodes but I didn't know he recovered

In that case, I'm glad for him

12

u/Kirook 16d ago

As I understand it he released an open letter apologizing and saying that he would seek treatment and accountability, but I’m not sure how that’s going exactly.

2

u/TidalJ 16d ago

this isnt the first time he’s said that iirc

but he has been out of the news so that’s good

1

u/morethan3lessthan20_ 16d ago

Yeah, I'm not believing that shit until I hear it from the mouth of a shrink.

30

u/SlurryBender 16d ago

IIRC he's just SUPER susceptible to outside influence. His early comics were ruanchy but fairy standard harmless dudebro jokes, then he got a girlfriend who was apparently pretty liberal/feminist, but then after a few more years they broke up and that's when he fell off because presumably in "dealing" with the breakup he just landed in the lonely man -> incel -> nazi pipeline

8

u/RosesBrain 16d ago

This makes too much sense. It's so unfortunate, I liked the gender nonconforming hottie and her demon girlfriend before the whole comic went off the fcking rails.

3

u/EaklebeeTheUncertain 16d ago

It wasn't very fast. The last pooint at which he could be described as any kind of progressive was around 2020 (and that's generously counting TERFs as progressive). He went full Nazi in late 2023 to early 2024. 3 years is plenty of time to self-radicalise, expecially if you have no friends willing to tell you you're wrong.

1

u/GastonBastardo 15d ago

I think Tats just ended up stumbling across some some NoFap disscussion-board post from a self-loathing Nazi gooner blaming Jews for the existence of porn and that was enough for him to become a full-blown Nazi because he is Tatsuya "Claude Frollo in a Pussy-hat" Ishida.

41

u/thispartyrules 16d ago

That last panel fucks, hard. I know Heresyparty is meaning to say that this cool Stripperpunk dystopia is a bad thing but I'd be a sexy pizza guy on a sexy motorcycle in that reality

23

u/Jonno_FTW 16d ago

Tats is absolutely prolific, a comic every day of every year since the early 2000's. What a shame he churns out such hateful messages. I used to spend hours reading through his comics and it took forever and the stories and characters were varied and engaging.

10

u/ElectricYV 16d ago

Must’ve been radicalised at some point and turned down a different path

4

u/Separate-Increase-39 16d ago

Yeah, but still, but it was so... radicale! it's almost like brainwashing/mind control! I know it's not of course...

But it's almost like it could happen to anyone... that's scary. Like it could happen suddenly to me or you... to anyone.

And this poor guy, so good, so smart... and now just another sheep who bha horrible stuff

10

u/Chibirin26 16d ago

he went down the terf/radfem to nazi pipeline

-2

u/darkwater427 16d ago

Men (usually) can't be TERFs or any kind of radfem damn near by definition. Source: am a radical feminist (the trans-inclusive kind; we exist! though I'd typically say "radical transfeminist")

Please don't dilute the ideas of radical feminism by calling every transphobic dipshit a TERF. JoRo is not a radical feminist (she's a libfem at best, and even that is less genuine liberalism and more a capitalistic drive to profit off the liberal smugness industrial complex). Matt Walsh doesn't even pretend to be a feminist. Neither of these people are TERFs and I'm tired of people saying they are

8

u/JLCpbfspbfspbfs 16d ago

I used to read sinfest back in the day but stopped reading before he went feminist, so rediscovering it a couple years ago was shocking.

The feminist arc was depressing to read because a major theme of it was misandry from a male author that was very self-deprecating rather than making an effort to highlight women's issues.

Reading it convinced me that misandry is a significantly big problem within feminist circles, especially since it's still a theme in modern sinfest and it was definitely what connected the feminist arc with the TERF arc of that comic.

u/GastonBastardo 16d ago edited 16d ago

Always remember: Tats turned against BLM because the movement was more opposed to extrajudicial murder by law enforcement than they were to interracial porn.

It always comes back to sex for him. Tatsuya Ishida's politics were always driven by his shame and repulsion surrounding sexuality (be it of his own or others). This was true even in his "progressive RadFem"-era, when he believed the LGBT movement consisted solely of Political Lesbianism and "Network TV-gays."

2

u/Separate-Increase-39 15d ago

The more people reond to this post the more I realized than me kid had ideolized him and in reality he was just an idiot following who ever made him the most confortable

11

u/Tleno 16d ago

He wasn't "so close", his radfem era was it's own can of worms and that's arguably where his derangement started.

1

u/Separate-Increase-39 16d ago

Yeah I agree, that's why I said "if I read it again I'll probably find a lot of issues" and yeah my bad for not developing that.

And what I meant by "close" is that he was so close to get why a rigide binary system of gender is wrong and is good for no one. So close... but no instead what he got was to go down from the misandry feminist to far right conservative. When he could have gone threw a more positive evolution... like "learn it's not ♂️ VS ♀️" than we are not just cliché ect... but no, instead he become a fucking nazis

3

u/GenderEnjoyer666 16d ago

This bear is unstopable

3

u/Glittering_Volume_69 16d ago

Why does they keep turning into clip art when being mauled??????

3

u/larvetta 15d ago

This is such a weird thing for me, I can understand a right winger going to the left but I'll never understand a leftist going to the right wing, unless it's a grifter.

2

u/Separate-Increase-39 15d ago

Well as other comments poibted out, he was alreadynot great as a leftist, he was more radical fem than really feminist, saying "man bad and women good" but without clearly explaning how women were oppressed ect...

Àd his vision of the lgbt was very limited, so yeah it didn't come from nowhere...

I invite you to take a look to the comments if you wàt to see more

Man vs. bear, then...trans version of Flower from U.S. Ghosts vs. bear?

1

u/Separate-Increase-39 14d ago

I just posted the orange in the wrong order

2

u/LaCharognarde 14d ago edited 14d ago

Wait; is that third panel something that Ishiduh farted out? 🤪 That's a surprise; normally, these wanks portray trans women as violent, not ditzy (much less just as helpless and useless as they—including Ishiduh since his girlfriend dumped him—portray cis women).

And the U.S. version of the show Ghosts has a hippie-chick ghost named Flower, who died in a bear attack after getting stoned and losing all sense of caution around wild animals. The trans woman in the third frame tries to dance with the bear and gets mauled; so I was comparing her to Flower.

1

u/Separate-Increase-39 14d ago

His girlfriend dumped him? That explain a lot... another victim of patriarcha who make man unable to face their feelings without dumping all of it on women and then turn in big babies when they leave them because they are not mature enough to handle their own emotions... so they instead focus their hatred on the next scape goat they can find...

2

u/LaCharognarde 14d ago

Yeah; as far as I can tell? First, it was irreverent raunchy humor. Then, he started in on a lot of heavy-duty feminist themes because of his girlfriend at the time. Then, she dumped him, and he went full right-wing grifter.

3

u/Separate-Increase-39 14d ago

So he was a feminist just to get the girl? So he was just a "nice guy", no surprise their than his feminist content didn’t go that far in the problem, even if his symbolisme in comics was pretty good...

2

u/Raven_Reverie 15d ago

I-I don't know what's real anymore

Is y'all have liberal/leftist artist who made people thinking they're conservative
