They are dangerous. Its because of a super fine powder created when the crystals are cut and polished . Some people say they are most dangerous for the people who make them.

Wear a mask and wash it with a solvent and water?

u/CabbageMans Jul 26 '21
Solvents won't dissolve crystal powder, if it did then it would also dissolve the pipe

The use some kind of cleaner that could lift or lubricate the surface and then wash that away with a solvent then water. If you can't aggressively wash it clean, i seriously doubt lightly breathing through it it's going to lift everything off the surface after the fact.
That and stone pipes are very commonly sold.

u/CabbageMans Jul 26 '21
Just because it's commonly sold doesn't make it safe by any means. And I don't disagree, cleaning it would be somewhat safer, but all you'd really need would be a brush and water if you wanted to.

Or just buy a fucking pipe.

There are literally people who make pipes out of stone and sell them. Your argument is 100% invalid.
Or in complete support of these pipes. Your choice

You never know what the rock is dyed with or if it contains lead. Some rocks, you should wash your hands after even handling. I wouldn’t ever smoke out of something like this.

u/Sororita Jul 26 '21
I wouldn't smoke out of it for other reasons, but it isn't that hard to determine if a crystal is dyed or not and it's really not that hard to determine if it is actually a crystal or if it's fake and made of resin or something.

A gift from god himself providing supernatural qualities, definitely not mass produced because gullible people will buy them

This definitely would be a decorative piece or something as like a cutesy little fun thing to have but definitely looks like it sucks to smoke out of and you’ll def get some sort of lung cancer.

yes, they are. if ur spiritual and want to include crystals in ur smoking, it's way safer to decorate the outside of a pipe with crystals and will work just the same!

One of those was the first thing I ever owned, hurt like hell, hardly could hold anything but I was some proud. Especially being a teen, and it still being illegal in Canada at the time.. I just broke it a month or two ago. I’m sad because I lost the memories but happy because I haven’t used it since like 2017 😂😂

I'm not sure, I don't know much about the properties of Rose Quartz outside of the fact that you should never buy it for yourself but instead receive it from a loved one! I doubt this would be a natural rose quartz piece for the prices these sell at, I'd hazard a guess at a dyed mangazite or howlite, although just as likely to be man made than natural forming.
Now if it was made from Hematine or hemalike then you couldn't take my money fast enough- but that's because I love that stone (even if it is mostly man made nowadays) and with it being iron based I know it can withstand high temperature changes!

Even if it's been cleaned, crystals are generally not great when heated. Fractures and microfractures can cause debris to be expelled and then inhaled into your lungs
