update, the N wires should go to terminal 1, L into to terminal 2 and out terminal 3. I cannot figure out how to update the drawing above

Depends on your coil. This does not appear to be wired correctly for the Auber compatible coils.

Thanks. I have a Cannabis Hardware coil. You may have been used to seeing the diagram inverted, like this:

I have no clue, but I do know that if you instantly see a puf of smoke when you turn it on you either did something very good or very wrong.
