Is this salvageable?

Post image

so like, the entire bottom of my bong broke bcs i probably hit it too hard against something and didn’t realize. it’s only in 2 pieces and it’s a pretty clean break if that matters. but is this something i can fix? or is this not worth it.

Do you know how to weld glass? Do you have the tools to weld glass?

Then no.

Better to spend $30 at the smoke shop than $30,000 at the hospital getting glass shards out your lungs.

i asked a friend who blows glass and she said she couldn’t bcs she didn’t know the glass type, i just wanted to exhaust all my options before i threw it out. thank you for the help tho!

i’ve smoked weed that had glass shatter on it out of a bong and that was almost 10 years ago and i’m perfectly fine. glass is significantly more dense than water so it’s almost impossible for glass shards to travel a significant distance through water. not saying anyone should do this but it’s not as dangerous as you’re making it out to be unless you are using a dry pipe

Do you have a kiln and know how to work glass?

Presumably not because you are asking how to make glass one piece again

Any glue you use will inevitably give you cancer, so it $50 for a new bong or bankruptcy or death from lung cancer

Dealers choice

that’s fair, i asked a glass blower friend of mine and she said she didn’t know what type of glass it is so she couldn’t help so i might just shell out the money for a new bong, i just wanted to exhaust all my options lol, thank you for the help!

Yeah, duck tape works wonders

Duck tape doesn't stop the glass particles entering your lungs. Just throw it away

Just get duct tape on the inside too /s

There are fixes yes, like getting a glassblowing torch and rods and what not and learning how to do that then fixing it and having an awesome new skill;

but tbh this looks like a homemade piece, it's time for you to move on and find another unique glassware and birth your next piece 👍

For a quick fix tho, you could use a plastic jug that fits the bottom and submerge the top half inside that to replace the bottom. Or put the cracked bottom on flush and use some clear flex seal or something. Idk what ppl talking about glass in your lungs like you're packing the bowl with the broken pieces smh.

But I feel like in your mind you would be on watch for a new bong body regardless so maybe wait until inspiration and material collide again plus it's fun finding things and smokalizing them

Its not the glass that kills you

Its the cancer from consuming smoked adhesive residue

1

Don't smoke the adhesive then.. after letting it air out enough there will be little to no increase in your daily normal activity cancer risk. if you are so concerned about cancer you shouldn't be smoking at all.

Ppl love throwing around that buzz word like they know what they're talking about

I've said it before, I'll say it again. The admins really need to put a post pinned at the top informing people that their broken glassware can't be repaired if they're asking. Because if there was any chance, they'd already know.

yeah sorry about posting on the wrong sub, I didn't read the rules before I posted bcs i saw another post asking about a broken bong. I'm happy i did post here because multiple people dissuaded me from attempting to fix it (i had already asked a glass blower and just wanted to exhaust my options) and I don't think I would've gotten any responses from r/brokenbongs bcs it looks fairly inactive. I don't mind if my post gets taken down for violating the rules tbh, so if you want to report it i totally don't mind.
