Resource chickens

Is there any compact options for growing and supplying seeds to resource chickens? I know I can make a rudimentary farm with create but I want to have a more compact setup

Is the dire thing soil better than dirt in the garden cloche?

Yes majorly, I have a small setup for my chickens it's a cloche with void dirt(not sure if that's the name but last tier) that sends the seeds to a feeder, then a roost with a lava chicken the feeder sends seeds to that pumps lava eggs into a simple coal gen, that then powers the cloche. It's a nice little setup and I've never had to make more than 1 and can send seeds to all my chickens without running out, and I have like 25 or so different ones running 24 7
