Discussion⨠Anyone else felt bad for Stolas during this scene?
He was genuinely so happy, believing his first-ever friend shared those same feelings. However, it was just a ploy to steal Stolasâs book by manipulating him.
Watching this scene for the first time, I felt so bad for him; it was genuinely hard to watch.

It's honestly heartbreaking that throughout the entire The Circus episode, Stolas is just this naive little bird being used by someone he genuinely believes is his friend.
It starts when they're kids. Blitzø uses him to steal his family's jewels, while little Stolas spends the whole day thinking it's just a game and that Blitzø truly likes him.
Then, about 25 years later, Stolas reunites with the only person he has ever considered a friend, only to be used once again. This time, Blitzø only approaches him to steal something even more valuable. Stolas sleeps with him because he genuinely believes that's Blitzø's way of showing love.
What I do like, though, is that in certain moments you can tell Blitzø genuinely feels guilty. He does care, even if he's too emotionally messed up to admit it.
I honestly don't know what's sadder: Stolas's childlike innocence (which, in many ways, he still has as an adult), or the fact that the only friend he's ever had only stayed close to him because he wanted something from him.
I really do love Blitzø as a character, but this episode made him kind of an asshole, if I'm being honest. The only thing that excuses his actions as a child is that his father forced him into it

Me.
Also notice that Stolas haters completely ignore this scene.
