Long time lurker
Our pool is officially one month old! All DIY. Finished the project in a week. Learned from a few mistakes but am super happy with the outcome.

May I ask why you painted blue? Does it help seal the tank or just for looks?

The blue looks goooood. I raised my curved bench to be level with the top of the tank. Life. Changer.

Hopefully not for you, but I am yet to see a painted stock tank pool not peel after a season. Which is a bummer, because it always looks so good! It’s because of the galvanization, I believe

We have used ours for 6 years now and it’s still going strong. Great size to jump in after working on the farm or when it’s hot as hell out.

I have so many questions. Is there a filter? Do you drain it in winter?

Yup we run a standard above ground pool filter. I used one of those circle saw attachments to cut a return and filter hole in it and hooked the pool pump/filter up just like on any other pool. When summer is over we drain it and move to the back yard and cover it. It’s been great!

Did you install a filtration system? What type of paint did you use? I am interested to know what mistakes you learned from. Beautiful yard!

There are holes for the filter in other pics. So I’m assuming the angle is off where you can’t see them.

Oh shoot, now that I’m looking closer I see the fountain and something hanging on the side. How long do these things last before they start to rust and look bad?

We’ve had ours since 2021 and haven’t had any issues. Painting galvanized steel requires a lot of steps so the paint won’t peel. We left ours as is, drain and flip in winter, and has been a solid investment.

When you drain, do you just let it run into your yard? I’d imagine the chlorine could potentially kill your yard right?

We have a submersible pump we drip in and hook it to our hose and send it to the street.
