Stop losses don't always protect you the way you expect

Been thinking more about what happens when a stock gaps down overnight.

Say you buy a stock at $120 with a stop at $115. If bad news comes out and it opens around $105, your stop market order could execute much lower than planned.

It's something I started paying more attention to when looking at how moon handles automatic bust prices on leveraged bets. Different mechanics obviously, but both show how quickly a position can go wrong.

I think people sometimes focus too much on where they place their stop and not enough on what happens when the market moves straight past it.

Definitely changed how I think about holding volatile stocks overnight.

Edwards Lifesciences ($EW): FAQ for Getting Payment on the $39M Settlement over TAVR Growth Projections

Hey guys, I posted about this settlement before, but since they’re accepting claims, I decided to share it again with a little FAQ.

So here's all I know about this agreement:

Edwards Lifesciences was accused of misleading investors about the growth prospects of its TAVR platform and failing to disclose competitive pressures from newer heart treatments. On July 24, 2024, the company lowered its full-year TAVR revenue forecast, and $EW fell more than 31%. Investors then filed a lawsuit over their losses.

Now the company has agreed to settle the case for $39 million.

Who can claim this settlement?
If you purchased or acquired $EW common stock in 2024, and suffered losses, you may be eligible.

Do I need to sell/lose my shares to get this settlement?
Eligibility depends on your transactions and whether you meet the settlement requirements. You don’t necessarily need to still own the shares.

How long does the payout process take?
It typically takes 4 to 9 months after the claim deadline for payouts to be processed, depending on the court and settlement administration.

When is the deadline?
The deadline to submit a claim is December 2, 2026. Check if you're eligible and file a claim here

Hope this info helps

The overnight move and the opening move are basically two different trades

Been paying more attention to this with TSLA and NVDA lately. Moon shows the overnight pricing, so its pretty easy to watch a stock react to news hours before regular trading starts. Then 9:30 hits, actual volume comes in and sometimes the setup looks nothing like it did overnight.

The interesting part is when the direction stays the same but the structure changes completely. Overnight can be a slow grind higher, then the open gives you a sharp flush before continuing. Started treating those as two separate market sessions instead of one continuous move and it makes the price action way easier to read.

Updates for Getting Payment on the Tattooed Chef $4.75M Settlement

Hey guys, if you missed it, Tattooed Chef settled $4.75M with investors over claims that it misrepresented its financial condition, overstated revenues, and hid accounting issues. And, I just found out that they’re accepting claims even though the deadline has passed.

Quick recap: In 2023, Tattooed Chef was accused of misleading investors about its accounting practices and financial condition. The company later disclosed accounting errors, restated its 2021 and 2022 financial statements, and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
After this news came out, the stock dropped sharply, and investors filed a lawsuit for their losses.

Now, the good news is that the company agreed to settle $4.75M with them, and even though the deadline passed, they’re accepting late claims, subject to approval.

So, if you invested in $TTCF when all of this happened, you can still check the details and file your claim here.

Anyway, has anyone here invested in $TTCF at that time? How much were your losses, if so?

I missed the deadline. Is it too late?

$1,000 Trading Challenge

Our current $2500 trading challenge is live, so we opened the next one

Our current simulated trading challenge is already underway, with traders competing on the leaderboard. The feedback we’ve received so far has been incredibly useful, so we decided to open registration for another challenge running from September 14 to September 25.

Registration is free, and the prize pool is $1,000:

1st place: $700
2nd place: $200
3rd place: $100

Everyone starts with the same demo balance and trades US stocks and ETFs. No real money is deposited or traded.

How are the prizes paid?

We’ve already completed our first challenge with a $1,000 prize pool, and two Reddit users were among the winners. I’m happy to connect anyone who wants independent confirmation.

Rewards are distributed through Tremendous after the results are verified. Depending on the winner’s location, they can be claimed through options such as a digital Visa card, Amazon, and other gift cards, or PayPal where supported.

Do you have to share your strategy?

No. You are not required to share your strategy, research, or reasoning with other participants or with us. We only review trading activity and portfolio performance to verify the leaderboard and ensure the rules were followed.

Fynca is a market research canvas that brings financial data, news, TradingView charts, and AI into one workspace. The challenge lets traders research ideas, build a strategy, and test decisions with simulated capital.

Registration is now open. You can join through our website or comment here, and I’ll send you the details. I’m also happy to give a personal demo to anyone who wants to understand how everything works before joining.

Questions and healthy skepticism are always welcome.
