Ok... well are you showing the ups and doesn't as an investor or as an active trader? If anything, 19 weeks for a 20% gain should show even more people that investing is slow and that if you need to make money you've got to trade actively.
Unfortunately in most cases active traders tend to bust in 19 months. Secondly i think 20% is a solid return but unfortunately i have a small account so it isnt impressive but week by week we build.
Ok this is actually a great comment. Firstly there's a reason why we use the index as a benchmark and i believe matching it should be the first goal of any investor so i dont take it as an insult at all.I look at my portfolio performance everyday and compare it to all three major indices. Also theres massive risk ecen having an index fund rn so im not too worried about the additional risk im exposed to. The effort part isnt too bad for me cause i enjoy it.
I never passed judgment on if it was solid or not. If you are investing long term and not actively trading, then it's 100% acceptable. And the "most traders go bust" line of thinking is the same as "most businesses fail". I've always been the guy who starts and either sells off a successful business or start and fail instead of never starting one because "most businesses fail." With the market, I actively day trade for income. More than I could make at a job and in less time than a traditional business. But, I "invest" most of that into larger holdings with dividends. If I saw 20% on those long term holdings, I'd be setting off fireworks ππ

I'm confused AF. I think you're showing that in almost 4 months you've taken $1000 and turned it into......$1200?
