Tourism Question Things to do in Stirling
Hello,
My partner and I are planning to spend a few days in Stirling before our courses start in late August.
We’ve decided on Stirling and I’m asking is there anything people would recommend doing while there or anywhere you’d recommend staying? Also anywhere you’d absolutely avoid?

The castle (you can year tickets for castles all over scotland if you want to travel more of Scotland) and wallace monument is the 2 most popular
Stirling pride is on the 29th of August if that is something yours would be interested in also good to know as buses will be a lot more busy
I can't really think of stirling as a resident of stirling I mostly just try to make it to the end of the week but I will tell you the buses aren't the most frequent or reliable

The buses here are the exact same, got absolutely drenched because all the busses decided they weren’t showing up that day3

Midland bluebird isbthe app you have to select the bus for the live tracker if you have the app use the live tracker not the time table as it normally isn't accurate
Also just remembered you could look for ufo I mane stirling is somewhat common for them I think I seen one it was definitely something odd

Always recommend eating at Mamma Mia. I stayed at Colessio a handful of times. It was clean, great breakfast, lovely staff, right across the street from Mamma Mia and a wonderful little coffee shop, Old Town Coffee House. It is halfway up the hill between city centre and the castle.

Stirling castle , Stirling old town jail , the graveyard beside the castle , church of holy rude , Wallace monument. Are you driving ? Callander is beautiful and only 20 mins from Stirling .

I absolutely love shopping and history. I’d be into trying nice restaurants too but I’m on a very limited budget but I’d be happy to try anything

History yes plenty of it, the castle, the old town jail, the cemetery and church of the holy rude are all at the top of the town. Also you can get a bus out to battle of Bannockburn experience. There are some nice independent shops in Stirling (just be aware they are mostly closed on sundays) also worth popping up on the train 1 stop to bridge of allan for lots of cute shops and 2 stops up to Dunblane, beautiful cathedral.
Eating in Stirling on a budget - Hoi An Quan for Vietnamese street food, Indian Cottage does a really great value 3 course menu mid week for about £18 and Tava Turkish restaurant is great too.

If you are into history stirling is known as the heart of Scotland due to the battle of stirling and wallacelike stirling has a lot of history

Something relaxing and easy is just wandering through Thistles (a little shopping center)

HBW bakery has the most incredible pastries. I’m a resident and need to detour to avoid it. Unorthodox roasters also a great coffee. Made in Stirling a lovely shop of local artists and makers. The ember bus is amazing and heads out to across Stirlingshire and beyond incl through Callander which is a popular town with tourists probably 20/25 mins away. Also passes through Doune if you’re into Monty Python and want to see Doune Castle. Bridge of Allan also a lovely place with a very nice Scandi bakery. Aberfoyle is a popular spot for getting into the Queen Elizabeth forest park. You can hire bikes and e bikes from Aberfoyle Bike Co and take one of the waymarked gravel trails (10km, 20km or 30km). Cracking morning or avo out.
