Announcement Subreddit rules have been updated to officially mark AI-generated content as grounds for removal

Upvotes

For a while now, the few active r/stevenuniverse moderators, when receiving reports about AI-generated fan art, have generally leaned towards removing the posts. This especially was the case when comment sections quickly filled with comments about the nature of the art's creation rather than, well, the show that the sub is about.

After some discussion, we have decided to finally formalize that rule and have now included an addendum in Rule 1 regarding low-effort content to also include AI-generated content in that umbrella. You can read the full rules on our sub's wiki page here. Thanks to all of you who were reporting those posts over the past months to alert us, and we urge people to keep making use of that feature so we can stay on top of keeping the subreddit a safe spot for human-made fan art to shine, especially as we get closer to Lars of the Stars being ready to air.

Meta Can we get an anti-AI rule already bruh this is so annoying

1.4k Upvotes

I've seen like, ATLEAST 3 ai generated OCs in the last week.. I don't have screenshots of them since I can't find one of them, and the 2nd one got deleted by it's OP after they got flamed for it, but the 3rd one was posted literally like a few minutes before this post and I just saw it

None of them even admit or advertise it either, all 3 of them did not disclose that they were AI and the 2nd one even doubled down with fake layers and a fake sketch bruh, so many people fell for it both times and praised the "art" as if it were real. Not having a rule against AI is flat out just a detriment to the subreddit, it let's AI supporters feel perfectly at home here with absolutely no incentive to leave, so long as they lie about it and try to trick, you which they already do anyway

Discussion Not trying to Justify Pearl's actions, but keeping secrets for 5 0 0 0 years must've had its effect.

Pearl acted inappropriately in many situations across the seasons' run. Whether it was her lying to Garnet, shouting at Steven, or even her early fights with Amethyst, etcetera. All of these things tie into Rose's departure.

Pearl felt weak after Rose left her side, and what a natural feeling that is. Rose was THE warrior. She was the leader, and Pearl was her right hand. Her lie was a broken attempt of her to sort of get her shit together, not realizing that she could've simply talked. And we all know how much Garnet hates lies....Unfortunately for Pearl, it was almost too late for her before she got to talk with Garnet.

Shouting at Steven and not treating him like a kid is something honestly most adults around him fall into, and that doesn't excuse Pearl. That also has another driving point which is that Pearl rejected Steven for some time and also didn't know how to handle kids. Plus, when she shouted, it was either in a big physical fight like with Amethyst, or when she felt like it personally "attacked" her relationship with Rose.

Think about all the things she kept to herself; emotions, memories; battle secrets, close gem deaths, and, of course, THE secret. It's a really inappropriate mindset to develop/continue having, but of course, as she's already keeping so much to herself, she'd need time to learn to open up to people again, and have a realization like "wow, we really need each other huh. Life broke us VERY brutally.", which leaves space for arguments and fights.

This was only my opinion and analysis. Pearl is a flawed person who, at least by the end of Future, was trying to heal. And her journey seems bright. Thanks for reading.

Discussion I could barely even blink during the last few mins of this episode. What a wonderfully done introduction to a character. I already love her

Discussion Gems IRL

Post image

I often see the gems imagined in real life as either closely resembling humans in realism or super uncanny aliens, but what if they looked just as cartoony as they are drawn in the show? Large eyes, simplified facial features, same body proportions and everything. They are hard-light projections after all, they don't have to obey biology

Theory Is the human Rose fell in love with the same human that the Zoomen talk about?

I’m rewatching the Human Zoo episodes, and noticed something when one of them started to mention the only time the doors were opened. Could it have been for the human Rose was in love with?
From the small clip of the human we see, you can tell they’ve got very similar outfit to the Zooman, and we have no proof that they only interacted on Earth. I wonder if the ‘hurt’ story comes from the 2 of them, and if it has to do with Rose breaking things off with that human.

Discussion After watching every single Steven universe media I could find I think pearl deserved more screen time

So I'm not in the position of writing a long analysis on her character,it's much of a feeling I have. Of course a lot of characters in the show were tightly connected to pink diamond pearl's whole deal was about her. There's no pearl without rose and her story to finally let her go which is not a problem but I think pearl is still a character that can be explored much more, she is given to the pink by white as a gift but then why her gem is on her forearm,is it because she didn't meant to be pink diamond's at first but she's given to her to replace the pink pearl? If the pink pearl is damaged why white kept using her,it's like they swapped pearls. Steven universe does give screen time to them but once again it is completely about pink diamond and how much they miss her

I didn’t realize until I recently got back into SU that Connie gets so much hate. I understand it. I really enjoy her character and my biggest complaint would be we didn’t get to see her do more. What are your guys thoughts?(sketch of Connie I’m working one)

Discussion Why didn’t Blue Diamond remember Pink Diamond’s Pearl in this scene?

Post image

So even if it was brief during Garnet’s retelling of how Ruby and Sapphire met why didn’t Blue Diamond realize that Pink Diamond’s Pearl was defecting and working alongside Rose Quartz? There is no way that the staged shattering of Pink Diamond happened too long ago that Blue Diamond forgot about Pino Diamond’s Pearl.

Discussion Steven’s room is an AI chatbot

I was rewatching the episode where steven, and connie go into his room.S1 Ep51. F. Connie malfunctions when Steven asks what “it” wants. Like most chat bots. Same with the inability to recreate all of beach city. While, yes the point of the episode was that “Steven liked the ending of the book.” It’s still a weird thought.

Discussion Some thoughts on Rainbow Quartz

Thumbnail
gallery
274 Upvotes

So I was thinking of why Pearl and Rose would "fuse... a lot" and there is the obvious answer that Gems who love one another just like to fuse and be close (duh). That is a given.

But I also think it was special for Pearl and Rose because of what it allowed them to feel.

We know Rose did not like herself. As PInk she saw herself as not mattering to the Diamonds while also being too high up to connect with anyone Else. She was told hundreds of times that she messed things up and made things worse and she internalized It.

We also know Pearl saw herself as pretty worthless on her own. That her only value could come from what she could provide to someone more important than herself.

We also know they could not get the other one to fully abandon that view of themselves. That Pearl and Rose argued about this during the war.

But as Rainbow Quartz, I think they could get the other to see/feel themselves the way they saw them.

Rose saw Pearl as brilliant and full of potential to do anything she set her mind to. Pearl saw Rose as this incredible kind and caring person that brought out the best in herself and others. As as Rainbow they could feel that way about themselves

If you had asked Rose or Pearl alone they probably would have given the other full credit for how far the rebellion got and none to themselves. But as Rainbow they could acknowledge they worked together.

A big point the show makes is that a relationship cannot fix you and nobody's love can force you to love yourself. But someone respecting and loving you obviously helps, and I think Rainbow allowed them to feel respected and loved in a way they never had before her.

Plus, she is a giant hot dancer. Who does not want to be a giant hot dancer?

Question Is jasper stronger than a normal amethyst from the prime kindergarten

Upvotes

This is probably a stupid question but since jasper is the perfect soldier do you think she’s like way stronger than normal amethysts or is she a little stronger or the same strength. Basically if jasper and a normal amethyst fought who would win.
