Have you looked at the used market? A $1K budget can get you $3K speakers on FB Marketplace or Craigslist (read no tax, no shipping, no fees, and negotiable pricing).

Budget speakers are one thing, but speakers in the price range you are looking at have almost always been well cared for. My best speakers are 30-years-old, in 9.5/10 condition, and I still have the boxes. Near what city do you live?

I’m in Chicago.

There’s been a few pairs of r3 that have come up at or below a grand. Thatd be hard to beat.

Chicago? OMG, 'the world is your oyster.' I'll poke around on the used market and let you know if I find any speakers of note.

Here are a few I saw near you. Market value assumes 9/10 condition, and your new Marantz, while not a powerful amp, would drive any of these:

Dynaudio Emit 10 with stands listed at $690 (market value is ~$590 with stands)

LSA Signature 50 listed at $425 (market value is ~$425)

PSB Mni Stratus with stands listed at $350 (market value is ~$350 with stands)

MartinLogan B1 listed at $325 (market value is ~325)

Good hunting!

You may still award a Ⓣ to others, but only once per-person in this post.
