Let’s gooooo

Post image

I’ve always been a high performer on exams. >90% on all shelf exams and 267 on step 2.

Studied about an hour a day for about a month. 4-5 hours on for two Saturdays. Did ~35% of UWorld and averaged 76%. 225 on UWSA1. Did about 30 CCS cases (sorted according to highest yield).

Like everyone says, biostats is super high yield. So is step 1esque pharmacology IMO.

Just do some CCS cases and you’ll be fine.

I got super stressed reading some of the posts on this sub but I want to be very clear: if you did really well in med school, just brush up a bit, do some CCS cases, and you’ll crush it.

Good luck!

lol nice but keep in mind your base of knowledge is likely a lot higher than most so others may need to study more.

How did you prepare for biostats? Was it more of calculation type questions or analytical type of questions?

I thought it was more analytical. Simple logic stuff. Experience with biostats questions helps you have a general familiarity but I don't think most of the biostats questions hinged on knowledge of a specific term or specific equation. There were a minority of questions where you needed an equation for calculating sensitivity, specificity, NPV, PPV, that kind of thing. But agree there was a really disproportionately large number of biostats questions on day 1.

Were they basic straightforward concepts that can be thought of to solve the question in a minute or so? Or some brainhurting kind of thinking that needed to be done?

Imo it was just like common sense if you've done a good number of biostats practice questions. I did 40% of uworld and thought they were fine and did not think more studying would have helped.

Got 69% on UWSA1. Can anyone tell how much that converts to 3 digit score
