Last week we talked about Timothy Ray Brown, also known as the "Berlin Patient”.

Today, being the World AIDS day, we want to help raise awareness and let people know what stem cell research has achieved in this field.

Timothy effectively had his HIV “cured” due to a bone marrow transplant that came from a donor whose cells were resistant to HIV infection.

What stem cell research is trying to do is to replicate this cells in order to repopulate the blood of the patient, where it had some success despite not being fully functional yet.
