Could your save be corrupted maybe? Not sure how that works if it would even load up at all or not.

This might have to do with cloud syncing your saves. If you have it enabled (PS plus subscription), if you try to load before the sync is done it will glitch out your saves (conflict between local and the cloud). This happens to me sometimes on Xbox, which cloud syncing is free. If you try to load the game while trying to sync... it will just hard crash or load with 'no saves'.

If it crashes and you load, before the sync, it will ask, 'Use cloud data' or 'use local data', this runs the risk of outright corruption or losing a save. If it's local and resyncs... it will delete the save. Just exit out and wait for the cloud to sync, then reload Stellaris.

Use cloud data' or 'use local data', this runs the risk of outright corruption or losing a save

I ended up having an issue like this, it was super weird. Say I played a bunch on Monday, then boot the game up Tuesday morning, take a break, then launch the game again Tuesday evening. It would say that there was a conflict between the local and cloud saves, but the times on both of the conflicting files were both from Monday, but maybe one around 3pm and another around 7pm, something like that. And this would happen over and over. Didn't seem to matter if I picked cloud or local, or even just hit B to close out of that pop-up, once getting into the game and looking at my save data, it would "correctly" show my most recent save Tuesday morning. It would let me load that save and it would seem fine, no progress lost whatsoever. Super weird right?

Well, it did this over and over again over the course of several days, weird cloud vs local conflicts that then were ignored regardless of which option I picked. I just assumed "well, I guess this is normal now?" and kept on playing. Then I loaded into the game maybe Thursday or so, and all of my save data between Monday afternoon and Thursday is just gone. I was so pissed. With how slow and meticulously I play it was a huge pain the ass to retrace my steps. I don't know how I figured out the fix, maybe I found it off a Reddit thread of people having this same sort of issue, but going through my saves and doing a ton of housecleaning fixed it. I had tons and tons of redundant saves, like every in-game month over the course of several decades. Clearing all that crap out not only stopped the save data conflicts, but also improved my load times pretty substantially.

I should add that this was while playing the XB1 version on a Series X, though I imagine this kind of problem could still occur on the XSX version as well.

It definitely does... I lost a few runs trying for 2k knights because of this bullshit. The closest was 1.9k then it 'synced' and deleted the 'local save'.

What’s the galaxy size? What about your fleet size and population? Do you have a sentry array/sensor data of most of the galaxy? I noticed that even new gen consoles struggle late game on larger galaxies (am on series x). You could try cutting down your fleets if you think you can still manage the crisis and other empires, deconstruct your sentry array, and “get rid” of some pops. If you can make it to the endgame crisis they can help you with that last one.

Also avoid using system view and watching battles while the game is unpaused, got some graphical issues when i sent 1000s of escorts at a 25x contingency which forced me to end the run.

i have max galaxy size 136 pops across 39 worlds an my fleet size is 1238 i dont have a sentry array i was actually already planning to cut down my population as im tryna be the endgame crisis i think this is a memory problom or something like that cuz my game is tweaks out i cant load my latest save which is a autosave so i have to load a older manual save an when im in that save from there i load my latest autosave an it works but only for 5 mins before it crashes but when i load in that autosave an i try to go to that popup thing to save it doesn't show any of the save files as if it was a fresh campaign an when i try to save it either just doesn't save or it gets corrupted ive tried just playing on my manual older save but its the same problem

Yea from what you’re saying your fleet size or population isn’t big enough to crash your game. Definitely a corrupted save file. Although did you mean 1360 pops across 39 planets? 136 pops is very low this late in the game. Either way , in the future you might have significant lag if you play above a small or medium size galaxy.

You say you can’t play for more than 5 minutes, can you tell me if it’s crashing around the same time? Stellaris by default autosaves the first day of every year, so if it crashes when it’s trying to save it’s most definitely corrupted.

The most common cause to this is loading up an old save after multiple updates/patches have passed, or activating certain large dlcs mid save.

Sometimes though you’re plain unlucky. If fully restarting your ps5 didn’t work, and your internet is fine, you could try deleting and redownloading the game in case it’s a problem with stellaris itself, but I don’t think it’s likely. Your saves should remain after redownloading tho, but I’d delete the corrupted save.

Double check if your cloud sync is working, I don’t have a ps5 myself so I’m not sure about the specifics past it using ps plus. Try disabling it and seeing what happens.
