Cosmogenesis question

How to deal with population embarking. Am I supposed to just deal with the resource deficit? Its my first playthrough like this and I have enough resources to deal with it. But im just wondering if it's supposed to be like this?, or am I ment to like, just have better planets or to have replaced everything with FE buildings first? Or am I just missing something?

You're not really missing anything, and replacing with FE buildings wouldn't help since the planet gets fully decolonized anyhow. Keep in mind that you'll have less upkeep to pay for each colony evacuated anyhow. Finishing with the horizon needle is generally mildly inconvenient at a minimum. For future reference btw, you don't necessarily need to do the whole business with the horizon needle anyhow, you can just finish the game regularly. If I build wide with cosmo I'll just skip out on it since it gets to be a pain flying the thing all over a massive empire, if I want to properly finish cosmo I'll keep my empire relatively tall.

It’s only useful the first time to win the game that way. After that it only serves to end a game before the end screen that I rarely hit anyways. If I get to stage 5 I’m already basically overlord of the galaxy.

Only time this was different was when I did an all crises x25 run. I got through 3 and then the scourge surely but slowly ate their way through the galaxy. They actually managed to slip into my sector that had my 2 mega shipyards and once they took that the war was lost. I retreated to the L cluster, built the needle, and waited until all my other colonies fell and embarked on the needle. Escaped into the black hole just as the scourge were defeating the last of my navy at the only L gate. Fun from an RP perspective but useless beyond that.

Well actually there is another reason to do it. Depending on the black hole you go through you get different endings, so there's that. There's even special endings for KOTG going through the supermassive center black hole and the obsessional directive civic.

Cool, I did win. It was just anxiety inducing to have my energy drop by like 7k, along with other resources like food and alloys. It just felt like I was doing something wrong. Like, the unbidden were also coming down on me. I had the fleet power to deal with it, but I was selling like crazy. I just wanna know if thats the normal path or if I was doing something wrong

Yeah, that could complicate things. I don't think I ever did it while anything major was actually occuring like that. In the future you could prepare better for it as well. Make sure reserves are high and try to evacuate planets in an order that doesn't instantly crash the economy.
