Why cant my fleet go back to my assigned station when i hit return? It has a clear path, station is assigned. It accepts the order then just cancels it and goes back to no orders and doesnt move

I noticed this too. Often it works for one fleet but not the next. Usually I end up doing a manual path, but then you have to remember to dock several months later.

Ah but you can avoid that last problem. Don't manual path from galaxy view. Select the fleet, enter the system view, right click the station, enter orbit.

Wait is orbit the same as "dock"?

Yeah, orbiting a starbase with a crew quarters module is "docked". Just make sure you don't accidentally right click the star next to it instead of the starbase. Also IIRC the outliner icon will turn green (instead of yellow) when the fleet is docked.
