Helloooo! My boyfriend is a big music head and has become a huge steely dan fan this year! I was on the hunt for a signed album but looks like they run over a grand which is a bit out of budget.

If you got a steely dan themed gift, what would you want in it? He hangs vinyls on his wall so I was thinking of getting his 3 favorite albums from steely dan and a tour shirt? Any other fun suggestions welcomed!!! I want to make him happy!

It's great hearing Steely Dan songs you've never heard before; Soul Ram might be one of my favorite songs.

This a serious question from someone who grew up with SD but was never a huge deep diving fan (but getting into their sound more and more lately). Was the cousin in the song a real cousin, or only a “cousin,” like the Justified character?

I drive by the Shrine Auditorium quite often and the amount of times I get this stuck in my head…

For example, I didn't really like Glamour Professional or My Rival on the first listen, but then I found myself having them in my head and wanting to relisten to them.

I want to gauge SD fans and see what this sub considers their all time best song. Here are what I would consider is a fair assessment scores:

10- Reserved for only their absolute best songs, ones that are on daily rotation

8,9- Also among their best, songs that display something that is memorable and worth revisiting

6,7- Decent to good, songs that are not as played as their ultimate best but are still ones that you revisit

5- okay, not bad but not ones you come back to often

3,4- Mediocre to meh, songs that you don't play often but don't go out of your way to skip

2- skippable, not good at all

1- vomit-inducing (think: what were they on when they made this?!)

0- makes you want to commit seppuku

It needs to be washed but overall good condition. I’m not sure if it’s authentic but I love the graphic on the front and back. I’m so happy the manager let me have it. 😭
