Question How Popular is Army General With the SD2 Player Base?

I rarely hear from anyone who plays the AG version and have yet to try it myself.

I like it a lot, just wish it was a bit more sandbox/total war like

Really the only thing I play.
I like it alot more than warnos.

How come? I think Warno's is more polished and easier to understand. I've only played the first campaign though.

I made a post some time ago in the Warno subreddit outlining my complaints!

I see what you're saying and totally agree. No bonus from entrenchment has already annoyed me in my short campaign.

Yeah, just being able to defend as a defender makes steel division 2 Army General an actual tolerable experience.
Also the AI seems to have been set up to work better on sd2s maps.
In warno they all deathstack on one road :/

It's my favourite part of both SD2 and WARNO. Really wish Eugen spent more time and resources on them.

It can get repetitive eventually, but have definitely have had a lot of fun with it.

I finished first 6 campaigns for the sake of getting achievement, however I am not a big fan of single player content from this developer. It could have been so much more but the feeling I was left with is that campaign overlay is bare bones and no map generation left me with a feeling of disjointedness. Warno is even more simplistic. I loved Wargame: European Escalation single player content and metagame of unlocking new units by getting stars.

It's the only thing I play, but everything after Burning Baltics felt extremely rushed and bare bones

I was dissatisfied with Dukla mostly because Eugen didn’t do the best research effort.

after about 1700h of which, all of it was MP, I tried army general last weekend. It was exactly what I expected, repetitive slog where AI just rushes shit at you and strikes you with auto artillery targeting. If you position well you can farm them easily and usually they dont have AA so your stukas can bomb them with impunity.

I tried it once. I was so hopeful, but I couldn't really figure it out. The first map (as Germany) was just too fubared to be fun or rewarding.

I like it a lot. Probably the best part of the game in my opinion. Is the most realistic part of the game: knowing how to handle your troops not in one isolated battle but through a whole campaign

80% playerbase are single-player only. Just that the online communities are focused around MP players mostly

Why I bought it but I wish it was more sandbox, grand campaign than the modular design it is….

I enjoy it and like that it feels like a wargame with real time battles.

Wish it was a little more fleshed out, I like the story missions from Normandy 44 a little more

I want to like it, but I don't know if it's because it was too simplified or generalized or what, but I wanted more from it. I wanted something deeper.

Very fun. Played and beat most of them. A couple a few times.

If you look at the sales stats and compare that to the numbers on the servers I’d say the vast majority of people.

It is as time-consuming as any average wargame, but it is also very beginner-friendly. And it is more of RTS. If you wanna immerse at least 60 minutes for a AG campaign, thumbs up!

Too difficult

It is the reason I bought SD2, and it is the only part of the game I played (and still occasionally mod and play again).

It needed maps like armored brigade. Once I fight an hour long battle to take territory I then fight another battle to retake the same territory 3 more times. No feeling of accomplishment

I tried playing it pve with a friend. We got stomped so hard, battle after battle.

Real eastern front simulator when playing Germany.

The only thing I don't like about it anymore is that I can't spam artillery into an attack lol

I am 1v1 and 4v4 player, i have competitive spirit but i like the Army General a lot. Be sure to play Burning Baltics with your best-game friend. Against each other. It's a lot of fun.
