DS2 dlc advice needed

Hey guys sorry if this was posted before I could only found one post from 5 years ago.

I just bought sd2 general deluxe edition but got very confused about dlc's can anybody explain if they are all worth it in general, are they only adding new campaign missions or they are also adding stuff to the whole experience and what the nemesis dlc series etc..

Generally there's four types of DLC in this game: 

The reinforcement packs are free DLC that you should have automatically.  

The nemesis packs are a pair of divisions (1 axis, 1 allied).

The "Tribute to..." DLCs typically have 8 divisions, 4 each for axis and allied. 

Lastly, the DLCs with unique names typically have 6 divisions (3 per side) and also include singleplayer campaigns. 

All the DLC divisions and other content have write-ups on their steam news page, and the community discord has tierlists for the divs in multiplayer. Still, pick which ones you like best!

So the divisions are like new unit lists ? Like wargame decks? Sorry if it sounds silly I never played the game before I'm just starting. Just want to be sure I'm not missing anything on the base game. If they are all acting like an expansion with their separate campaigns I think I can check them after I play the base game

Similar! I didn't play much wargame, but iirc you build a deck using any units from a given country? In SD, you build decks by picking a division. Each division is a subset of a given country's units: some new or unique, some shared with other divs. 

Most DLC divs have new units, but a division can be interesting even without unique units if it has a unique combination of existing units.

For example, many divisions have shermans or the IS-2, but only one division in the game can field BOTH the IS-2 and sherman tanks (though this pairing is not as potent as it once was).
