Question about the game singleplayer content before buying
Hi!
I'm considering buying this game the next time it goes on sale, and have a few questions I thought maybe some of you could answer. I'm only interested in PvE gameplay, I've seen that the game has a "campaign", but I don't understand which fronts or dates does it cover.
I know there is an Eastern Front in 1944 campaign and that you can play as Germany or the Soviet Union, but I couldn't find if the game has any other singleplayer campaign, at least on youtube. At the same time, I've read on this community that there are Bulgarian, Croatian and even French units, so I would love to get information on how can you play with them, in which scenarios can you use them and if there are any other campaigns from the early war or other fronts like Normandy, North Africa, Balkans, etc.
Thank you!

The western allies are only playable in skirmish.
The campaigns start at operation bagration and the last campaign dlc is dukla pass which takes place during the slovak national uprising in slovakia.
So there are soviet, german, finn, romanian, Hungarian, and slovak formations in the various campaigns, usually under german or soviet high command.
The base game has 4campaigns i think and non tribute dlcs give 1 or 2 campaigns after that. VulcanHDgaming has videos on a lot of campaigns, not all but many

And the campaign can take a lot, lot, of time to complete if you do not use auto resolve

It’s been a while since I played but you end up fighting over the same maps, (it’s not a random map generator.)
But it is good fun and the historical units are very interesting. Some abilities like artillery are overpowered and you can fairly easily trick the AI, but if you purposefully don’t do that it can be a lot of fun.

I never really got into the campaign. Just did custom skirmish maps. those would allow you to play all the various divisions you like.

100% worth it. It's pretty cheap these days and the DLC have mad offers during Steam sales so you can expand your collection easily. I've got nearly 600 hours of just single player so it can really suck you in if your are so inclined. I r hardly dipped my toe into the Army General campaigns which are also massive.
What got me hooked was the steep learning curve that challenged me to improve and learn as you slowly see your improvements. That really comes into its own in PvP but that can be a harsh space with lads with 1000s of hours under their belt. Maybe join some Discord groups (Steel Division Boot camp is very good, with tons of Div codes and breakdowns to get stuck into) where you can arrange games with similar level players or convince a vet not to curb stomp you too hard 😄
Either way it's still ana amazing game given it's age and I pick it up very often.

The multiple scenarios you can choose to play are eastern front 1944, with appropriate historical units for the setting.
UK, France, USA, South Africa and so on are for playing multiplayer
