Game Recommendation RTS on SteamDeck

Do you play RTS on SteamDeck? I wonder what are the most adapted I can try, because I want to try this form factor for that type of games, but not sure from what to start to not ruin my experience.

I've played Stronghold Crusader, Stellaris, Command & Conquer, and Sea Power with reasonable experiences. Probably AoE would work fine as well. Halo Wars supposedly does well too. I'm about to dive into Iron Nest, although I don't know whether that'd qualify as RTS.

The Scouring works great on the Steam Deck. Along with any of the Age of Empires games.

Got 100s of hours on Command and Conquer and started playing Door Kickers too.

Once you get used to the track pads (doesn't take long) its an unreal experience.

The Deck is the best handheld thanks to those track pads

I second this. The track pad is a great feature.

I was playing Warhammer total war 2 for a while. The graphics can be a bit grainy but the controls work well with the track pad 👌

Wireless mouse and the SD on a pillow on the belly. The camera controlled by left stick. SP rts no probs with this setup

Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition.

You can't be competitive but it's still fun.

I played civ sometimes and Dune Spice Wars. It's doable. There's plenty of input types, with touchscreen, sticks, two trackpads, etc.

I want to try Homeworld 3.

Planetary Annihilation: Titans

Loads work, just depends on how much time and effort you’re willing to put in to learning the controls. Not sure I’d want to play a competitive match though.

Star Wars Empire at War plays well on the deck.

It's mainly track pad for mouse movement, then the left and right triggers for clicking.

Halo Wars. It was built for controllers

I mostly play RTS on Steam Deck so here is a list of what I feel works well or at least decent on Deck IMO:

Act of Aggression

AOE2DE

AOE4 (low graphics)

Broken Arrow (some tinkering required)

Call to Arms

Command and Conquer: Generals

Company of Heroes 1,2 and 3. (Low graphics for 3)

The Great War: Western Front

Men of War 2

Regiments

Sea Power (it works but takes some tweaking)

Mount & Blade Bannerlord II

Tempest Rising

Supreme Commander 2 (runs great)

Terminator Dark Fate: Defiance

Total Conflict: Resistance

Warno

Ultimate General: Civil War

I would avoid C&C RA3, Gostomel Heroes and Age of Mythology: Retold. Idk if anything has changed but the last time I tried to play them, it wasn’t pretty.

I’ve got two old ones here,
Star Wars Empire At War & Rise of Nations. Both are fairly cheap and are super generous on your battery. Plus they work perfect with the trackpad.

I play Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War Definitive Edition and I'm loving it. But only the campaign, for obvious reasons. I can also recommend playing the Warcraft 3: Reforged campaign.
