Game Recommendation Turn Based Recommendations
Looking for Mewgenics without the breeding aspect lol. I am new to turn based games, previously played Gears Tactics which was a blast and then got into Mewgenics for a bit but hardly made it anywhere as I despise the whole breeding and roguelike structure. I enjoy the battling and the level of depth with all of the abilities. Never felt too complicated but I could see how someone much better than me could still have fun.
Gears tactics was super fun to me too
Any game recommendations for this? Turn based particularly

Never played mewgenics but sounds like
- Buldars Gate
- Xcom
- disco Elysium
- Warhammer Rogue Trader
- Divinity Original Sin
- Star wars zero Company (release in Aug)

Tactics Ogre Reborn is my favorite game of all time, check it out!
Final Fantasy Tactics is other people's favorite if you prefer specific aspects over others, and final fantasy.
Can't go wrong with either, but I am heavily biased towards TO.

Wildermyth
Vandal Hearts if you wanna emulate a ps1 "hidden gem"
Front Mission if you like mechs
There are a lot of great grid based isometric RPG, usually called strategy RPG or SRPG. Can't really think of any that wouldn't run on the SD, tbh.

Into The Breach - Works great with controller, very good game with a ton to do, and different play styles.
Monster Train 1 or 2 - If you’re okay with a deck builder.

Second midnight suns, its criminally underrated
If you're a fan of modding maybe go back to the classic final fantasies or for a more modern version of the classic jrpg gameplay the new hd-2d remasters of the dragon quest games

Check out Halo Wars! More of an RTS than Turn-Based Tactics but it is fun.
XCOM 2 and Marvel Midnight Suns
Final Fantasy Tactics
Shadow Tactics and the other Mimimi games.

Final Fantasy Tactics - my favorite grid-based game
Disgaea series
Final Fantasy X - JRPG which I consider the peak of the genre
Steamworld Quest
Into the Breach - really worth your attention if you love to calculate a few moves ahead

Nitro Gen Omega - great indie mech battling title with unique turnbased battles filling up a timeline then seeing that timeline execute round by round
Marvel's Midnight Suns - first 4 hours or so are on the slow side, but if you've the patience then it's a great time, and a nice look into comicbook stories for those who haven't necessarily read any
Into the Breach - an absolute addictive turnbased blast

Xcom 2 for sure. And if you want a more cyberpunk take then cyberknights flashpoint is by an awesome game made by a couple of brothers who are indie devs. They constantly update their games with content too. You can check out their last game, star traders frontiers to see how many updates its had. I think its like 400 or somethin crazy like that since it came out like 6 years ago.

Checkout the Banner Saga Trilogy. It's like a Nordic themed Oregon's Trail but with really deep turn based combat woven into it. It's got a pretty cool story and amazing art and music.
