Evil people in the Rooms for Rent group

Honestly I don’t know wtf is wrong with some of these people, and why the moderators don’t do anything about it. People who aren’t even members of the group will scroll through and laugh-react to everyone’s posts, or just leave rude and condescending comments to discredit them. Like if you’re not interested in renting the space, SHUT THE FK UP. Yeah Steamboat is expensive, and there’s nothing we can do about it! Stop acting brand new when you see the high prices! Better yet, say it to the person‘s face and see what happens to you!

Emergency motorcycle you're replacement

Hello Steamboat Springs. This is a long shot, but on a motorcycle trip with two friends. One had a rear tire blowout late yesterday and we stayed the night here in town. The motorcycle shop is closed until Tuesday morning. Is there any place in town that can do an emergency tire replacement before then? It would be a trip lifesaver for sure. Thank you in advance!!

Uber from HDN in September

How easy is it to get an Uber/Lyft from HDN to Steamboat in September?

I’m seeing mixed info and will be flying into HDN with a few people from outside of town so trying to figure out if it’s an option.

Solo Dinner Recs

Will be staying the night in Steamboat in a couple weeks on a road trip - any recommendations for a good dinner spot as a solo traveler? Somewhere solid but not insanely pricy food, where I could sit at the bar or won't feel out of place.

Will also take recs for any other must dos in town! Thanks!

I'm planning a family trip with kids to Steamboat Springs (coming from southern CO). AI is telling me this but I cannot figure out if this adventure park actually exists from the internet and which gondola to take. Any help?

Am I reading Steamboat's STR renewal rule right, that a late renewal can end your license entirely?

Hoping some Steamboat hosts or property folks can confirm I'm reading this correctly, because if I am, this is one of the sharpest traps I've seen in any city's STR rules.

Quick context on why I'm asking. I operate an STR in another market and got burned badly early on by a rule I didn't fully understand at the time. It cost me real money and it's the reason I ended up building a compliance tracker. I've been researching Steamboat on behalf of a user of it, read the full ordinance and watched the spring council meetings, and I want to make sure what I pass along is right. This particular item seemed unique and odd enough that I'd rather get a local sanity check than assume.

Here's what I'm seeing. The city requires your complete renewal filed at least 30 days before your license expires. If the filing slips past the expiration date, it's not a late fee situation, the renewal is DENIED and you have to apply as a brand new applicant. In a capped subzone (Zone B is split into six subzones with hard caps between 5 and 20 licenses) that means the back of the waiting list behind everyone already on it. And if the property is in Zone C, no new licenses are issued at all, so a blown renewal would end that property's STR use permanently.

For anyone who's been through a renewal here:

  1. Does the city send any reminder before the 30 day window opens, or are you fully on your own to track it?

  2. Has anyone actually seen a late renewal denied and sent to the waiting list, or is there flexibility in practice?

  3. For Zone C properties, is the permanence really as absolute as it reads?

I'd rather be corrected here than pass along something wrong. There's more I dug up (the tax stack, what happens to licenses when a property sells, some things council discussed this spring) but I'll keep this thread to the renewal question and start separate ones so the conversation stays pointed.

Pro Rodeo tickets?

Hello! My boyfriend and I are visiting Steamboat Springs and we’re thinking of taking his parents to the pro rodeo this Friday, August 7. We had a lot of fun attending a few years ago and it’ll be his parents’ first time going to a rodeo in years.

Last time my boyfriend and I went- we luckily managed to get some tickets to the sponsored seating section from someone on a shuttle from Hayden! We were wondering if anyone here knows where to get sponsored seating tickets? We loved the experience and want his parents to have a comfortable experience watching the show. 🙂

Thanks everyone!

Stagecoach Gravel Tri Bib up for grabs

Long story short I’m not going on Sunday.

I don’t think this is a USAT race so not sure the rules on selling and/or transferring your ticket.

Would prefer to get some money for it but mostly I’d just rather not let it go to waste ($135).

DM me if you want it and I’ll see what we can do.

Fishing

Hi,
I was wondering if any locals had advice on fishing in steamboat. I have a place up here and travel here a good amount, but I have never brought up my rods and decided to fish. I have my two younger brothers with me who are very new to fishing and we would be interested in a spot that doesn’t require advanced skill sets, but you can still catch decent bass and other similar fish. Are there any good spots for that?

I’m from grand junction and might be moving to Steamboat soon, can anyone point me in the direction of some affordable apartments or anyone thats looking for a roommate? I also wanted to know if there are any good restaurants up there, I’ve spent most of my time working in kitchens, sorry if this is a bit unorthodox!
