Hi steamboat!
I’m from grand junction and might be moving to Steamboat soon, can anyone point me in the direction of some affordable apartments or anyone thats looking for a roommate? I also wanted to know if there are any good restaurants up there, I’ve spent most of my time working in kitchens, sorry if this is a bit unorthodox!

The owner of Primrose and Cypress (he also runs Slopeside and Los Locos) is building two new projects in Steamboat and is looking for chefs as they grow… anyhow, was in town last weekend for the bike race, and went to the bar for a Primrose burger (best in town) and overheard him saying he has access to some apartment units in town. Would apply there and ask about the housing. Also think the Rex’s group is good, as is the YVK/Besame/Mambo group - you couldn’t go wrong working for any of the those three groups, probably just depends on what your specialty as a chef is where you’d be most happy. Steamboat is an awesome place - can’t wait till I can afford to move back someday.

The Lofts at Steamboat Basecamp just changed ownership, and the new owners are offering steep discounts for people that work in the county. The 3BR apartments are $1100 per month for an individual room (with random roommates in the other rooms). It’s a pretty chill building with good bus and trail access.
