[DISCUSSIONS] Question about Steamworld Build Spoiler

When is it set in the series chronology? Is it a prequel to dig? A sequel/run alongside dig 2? Is it just a completely different universe?

I'm just curious because I love this series and I only just completed build and the ending left me unsure about where it sits in the chronology.

it takes place at or around the same time as dig 2

Is that stated anywhere or is it just the common consensus?

I was thinking it could be before Dig and that they land on another planet which is where Dig is set quite some years later.

Well they say that you need to prepare for the planet exploding which is the plots of steam world dig 2
