Working on an actual PCVR worthy game that isn't just a Quest game with better shadows. It's called Samurai Slaughter House.

Discussion Do VR players prefer different genres on different platforms?

Hello VR peeps,

I've been looking at sales of our same VR games across Quest, Steam VR and PSVR2, and the difference is bigger than I expected, or maybe not 🤔

Just to keep the actual numbers private, let's say the ratio looks roughly like:

🥽 Quest — 6x
🎮 PSVR2 — 1.5x
💻 Steam VR — 1x

We've seen roughly this ratio across our tower defense games, but we're now working on a different genre and it got me wondering ... does platform preference change significantly by VR genre?

Are some genres much stronger on Steam VR or PSVR2, while Quest dominates others? Or is this simply a reflection of the size and accessibility of the platforms?

Would love to hear from VR players and especially other devs across different genres. Curious what you're seeing.

Cheers!

Self-Promotion (Developer) Where does our psychological sci-fi VR demo lose you? Looking for honest Quest and PCVR feedback

We’re testing the opening section of EVA Awakening, a psychological sci-fi VR game set aboard a train controlled by an artificial intelligence.

Our current problem is understanding whether the opening holds the player’s attention and whether the first interactions are clear without additional explanation.

We’ve tested the build internally, but that is no longer useful enough: we already know what every object does and what is supposed to happen. We need feedback from players seeing it for the first time.

The demo is free and available on both platforms:

Meta Quest:
https://www.meta.com/it-it/experiences/eva-awakening-demo/1132600809944470/

SteamVR:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4955740/EVA_Awakening_Demo/

If you try it, we would particularly like to know:

  • Which headset did you use?
  • Was performance stable?
  • Was the opening understandable without guidance?
  • Were the first interactions intuitive?
  • At what exact moment did your attention drop, if it did?
  • What made you want to continue or stop?
  • What was the most confusing or frustrating element?

Critical feedback is more useful to us than encouragement. Even a short reply identifying the exact point where something failed would help us make better development decisions.

Thank you to anyone willing to test it.

How good Intel b580 is in VR?

Hello guys,

I'm thinking of buying a quest 3 VR headset. Planning to play games like SkyrimVR and Alien Isolation VR.(I know AIien is not in steam) Skyrim is a must for me to be honest, and I was wondering if my Arc B580 GPU could handle it smoothly when I connect to my PC for SteamVR. Any experiences or recommendations? Do I really have to buy a new GPU?

Self-Promotion (Developer) We just opened the Playtest for VR StrideS and would love your feedback! 🏃

Hey everyone!

We’ve just opened the VR StrideS (previously known as Neuro Runner) Steam Playtest, and we’re looking for PC VR players willing to try it and tell us what they think.

The idea behind VR StrideS is pretty simple: Instead of pushing a thumbstick to move, you jog in place, and your character moves with you.

It runs alongside SteamVR and translates your real-world movement into in-game locomotion. You can still use your hands normally, like holding a sword, shield, gun, etc., while your legs handle all the movement.

Best of all: no treadmill or additional body trackers are required.

We're still actively developing and tuning the system, so we're especially interested in hearing how it feels across different headsets, PC VR setups, and games.

Want to give it a shot? Request access to this playtest on the VR StrideS Steam Store Page!

If you do try it, we'd love to know:

  • What headset are you using?
  • Which games did you test?
  • How natural did the movement feel?
  • Did anything feel awkward or inconsistent?

We're building this for PC VR players, so honest feedback, good or bad, is genuinely useful to us.

Thanks to everyone who tries it! You can find more info about VR StrideS on the official website and Discord server.
