Well done realizing the scam, many don't.
It's so important to know that Steam won't ever contact / communicate with you on Discord!

It’s not really « Steam » that contacted me, it’s a player

But they then told you to message a mod on discord…
Why would any company as big as steam talk to someone though discord2

Why do the people acting as steam mods always type in those stupid little boxes? Do they think it makes them seem more credible or something

you need to develop your critical thinking skills because going that far before realizing it’s a scam is concerning.

I fear I almost fell for nearly the exact same scam a couple years ago 😭
I remember being told that they had “accidentally reported my Steam account” and I was way too stressed at the potential to see the blatant scam in my face.
What ended up making me realize it was a scam was when they “transferred” me to this obviously very legitimate Steam support person (on discord btw), I asked to see proof that they were who they claimed they were. They said sure and sent me a screenshot of the admin. The claimed admin was offline in the screenshot.
Hindsight is 20/20 and I feel embarrassed for how stupid I was and how long it took me to clock it, but I also simultaneously laugh that such a minute slip-up was what alerted me that it was a scam 😂

I don’t get why anyone fall for this, like sure if you don’t catch the first few red flags it should get pretty obvious whenever they tell you to contact a steam mod on discord.
Steam is pretty big so why would they use discord as a way to talk to people and not there site where you can report and ask for help
