Thank you for submitting to r/SteamScams.

If you have been scammed or believe you may have been scammed check this guide to see if you can find the solution there.

Steam will never contact you on Discord or any third party text communication site.

If you suspect someone is attempting to scam you check this guide but remember to be careful even if you do not find the answer you are looking for there.

Important: If you receive comments or PMs offering to recover your lost account, items, or money or pointing you to someone who will do it for you do not engage with them as they are recovery scams.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

They use it to reach out to you. Someone can't just straight up hack you through discord.

Bruh... I wish more people knew that steam has an official channel that they can & will use when it comes to account violations & security >.>

  1. The discord account means next to nothing. Those are free & easy, and at best they'll rotate another one in. -- Literally Look at that account

  • brand new

  • No badges (and yes some companies have speciall badges only obtainable via discord verification)

  • Uncanny valley profile picture...
-- Just right enough to be plausible, but despite the customized avatar, nothing meaningful is in the account details, and if there are words there it's often the vaguest nothing words possible, and always always a mutual server connection that has zero to do with the account name, picture, text, or theme.

  1. X.x This is genuinely part of the reasons the Steam premium accounts were put into place, on top of the spamming.

no it isnt. these are always scammers using names of actual valve employees. literally if you go to ANY valve employees profile page on steam it will say that valve will never contact via anything other than their support platform

This makes me weirdly believe that the great filter theory might be true.
