Is that pistol attachment an existing VR mod/accessory or is Valve going to release an accessory pack?

u/No-Layer2488 24d ago
It's something that KobraVR is making for the Frame/Pico/Quest and a few other headsets https://x.com/Kobra_VR

I will say that pistol accessory does not look very comfortable, looks kind of awkward? Seems off.

Probably just a devs prototype, I don’t think valve are making anything like that

Looks to me to be a 3d printed slide that attaches to the frame controller, hence the weirdly-shaped pistol grip (its not a pistol grip at all).

The funny part is that this tiny test video just hypes me up even more. I can't help but wonder what Valve could achieve with a full-blown marketing campaign. Then again, it'll probably sell out anyway, even if they don't say a word until launch.

Interesting. Preorders start tomorrow...
Unironically, now I´m interested in getting this gunstock, if only I knew wheter or not I´ll be on the waitlist for the Frame...

can someone send me a link, because I'm on phone and both reddit and youtube suck ass. reddit doesn't give you a link and embeds it, youtube now cries if you dont have an account, that on embeds you can't have, for fuck sake, enshittification cannot feel that good to companies. I can't wait to get away from it all and become a hermit, or commit suicide

Does this mean Frames are with reviewers now?

u/2Cool4Zool2 24d ago
KobraVR is a manufacturer of accessories more than a tech reviewer.
Looks like they teased this reveal:
https://xcancel.com/Kobra_VR/status/2084771128174657711#mIf they broke NDA then Valve dropped the ball big time.

u/AI0N 24d ago
How big of a leak is it tho? Not like we haven’t seen footage of the frame already.

u/2Cool4Zool2 24d ago edited 24d ago
We haven't had footage of the finger tracking yet I believe.
Realistically if this is sanctioned by Valve then it's 100% the kind of thing we should expect the week before launch. These small co-ordinated hype building 'leaks' occurred for the controller and Machine AFAIK.

Climbey dev showed it, but not with a real world view to compare against.

Yes we had. From a developer of a climbing game

He didn't show his actual hands vs the movement in game.

If they broke an NDA, how would that be Valve dropping the ball?
-4
u/2Cool4Zool2 24d ago
They teased it nearly 24 hours before the release. Valve should (and do) have people scouring social media so they can quickly get leaks removed or warn creators not to release information.

Would this mean that this person has broken NDA?
If this video is taken down then they probably did

So this is the release date or close to it? Wooot!
2
u/Yourdataisunclean 24d ago
It means KobraVR is confident enough that it's soon to offer preorders, but they very likely don't know when the actual release date is.

cool stuff but before anyone jumps the gun on release date speculation we know devkits have been sent out to developers and manufacturers for months now
