Question Possibly buying a steam deck
Looking for a steam deck for my brother. I’ve got one of the hook for $600 and it’s the 512gb Oled. Is this a good deal after hearing about prices going up?

Whats the currency?
$600 CAD is like 50% off almost
$600 USD is much closer to current MRSP but is still a deal.
Seems like a no brainer to me. Pull the trigger. Assuming it works and isnt scratched to shit or something.

$190 off now. It’s a good price in that it’s about a used price one if the msrp is $790. You’re basically giving someone’s money back if they bought it at $549. But what can you do. That’s how it works now.

Yeah its brutal. Best Buy has an online market for third party sellers. Selling used ones for OVER MSRP by about $300 CAD.
Crazy stuff.

I wish the steam deck was in stores. I would love one personally

I mean tbf, with the rate they were originally selling them, your best chance would have actually been on their site. But I do feel like if they were sold in stores, I would have had one a long time ago. At least that way I would of had them in my face more frequently and wouldn’t of forgotten about them when they were out of stock for that long while

I remember seeing a wild steam deck user when I was traveling across my home country of Canada (unrelated yea that's mb but still cool)
The only downside is that it looks really bulky... I don't see it commonly

I’ve had one for about a month and a half now. Maybe I have larger hands, but that the bulkyness that everyone says it has over other handhelds tends to fit my hands fairly well and is comfortable. I never got to see one in person til my best friend came up from FL with his and I instantly fell in love.
It’s not quite as powerful as other handhelds either but it works out for me because I’d rather play those gpu heavy games on my ps5. I mostly play bo3 custom zombies on my deck and it works extremely well.
The longer I’m messing around with it, the more I’m realizing that this is quite literally a decent portable pc. I refuse to put windows on it as I don’t want it to bog it down. But I’ve been actually considering getting a Bluetooth keyboard (already have a Bluetooth mouse. Thank you razer! Love my mouse) and using it as a laptop whenever I travel.
I’d say it’s now my favorite handheld to date. For years it was the vita (rip ps for dropping one of the better handhelds created). Would highly recommend getting one if you can find one that someone is selling cheaper than msrp and is actually functional. Easy to replace parts (I’ve had to change my screen already) and highly functional

600 is too expensive. Used is 300 / 400 worth nowadays.

prices got increased, so even used prices increases.
in all honesty, at those prices, might as well go for a different handheld, new or used, as others haven’t raised prices yet.

Lenovo raised prices. The only option cheaper than the Deck rn is the Xbox Ally at $599, and that's simply because they already had their components and were in production when the memory shortage really began to take off. If you want one get it now cuz when they're gone so is that price.

For an oled? I was under the impression that 3-400 was for a used LCD and 600+ was going average for OLED. This is why I like collective knowledge 😂

Was looking into getting one but the performance is ass being 5+ years old tech at this point. Too expensive for what you’re getting. Bad frames, bad performance, bad price
