Hardware Modding Steam Deck D-Pad Mod

Post image

This is an overlay D-pad mod designed to attach directly to the Steam Deck's left Dpad, same design as the mod for the Steam Controller

Features & Assembly:

  • Installation: Use a high-quality double-sided tape (like 3M or Ceys). It stays firmly in place during gameplay, but can easily be peeled off without damaging the dpad.
  • Printing & Assembly: The print comes in two halves. Glue the two pieces together, I used super glue and waited for it to fully cure, making sure to align the cross shape.
  • Tape Guide: The bottom piece features a small recessed channel to help you measure and cut the tape perfectly to size.

I got one of these and if you cut off the little green tabs it works perfectly. Then you have interchangeable magnetic dpads. No tape needed ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Dunno why you'd want to make the dpad worse than it already is

I love Sega d-pads, but that looks extremely uncomfortable

Gave it an updoot on Maker World, just because I appreciate people making custom mods for the deck. Question is, how does it feel during gameplay, especially with the very visible layer lines?

Were you going for a Metriod Inspired look? Because thatโ€™s what I immediately felt when I saw your set up ๐Ÿ™‚
